Review: Great christian movie in a very believable setting. - Wonderful series. It shows not only the biblical side of the story, but also from the perspective of the political and religious leaders, by expressing their concerns and ever present life and death threat of Rome, and the stirred up crowd of zealots. Very well done script, props, sets, and acting. It leaves you with a sense of hope in a risen Jesus, and power of God to save, heal, and guide the lives of believers. I loved it and as sorry it was cancelled. At least we know where to find the rest of the story.

Powerful Portrayal
This series was so incredibly powerful and we love it! True not everything is verbatim from the Bible, it DID hit all major scriptural points accurately. I’d always encourage any believer to go to their bible as they watch this too. Over all it was so very well done, actors were incredible, the history of this story is powerful! I’m so sad that this series was cancelled after this one season. I’m hoping and praying they finish this one day.

Great set, great acting, good depictions of some events-- but lacks in many ways.
First--it's a miracle that a Bible movie including direct acknowledgement of Christ was allowed to air on network TV at ALL. It has fantastic acting and fantastic sets. You get caught up in it, and feel like you're authentically there. You get to see some real events of the Bible come to life, which is deeply valuable. But it still has its Hollywood ways. It's extremely and unnecessarily violent and bloody, the defining attribute of the series. It's also all about the drama, the conflict, the music, and the awesomeness of the characters-- especially the villian Herod. He is portrayed seemingly as a God. It's all dramatized so very heavily. This series is a continuation of The Bible Miniseries. But it's odd that there's a completely different cast. We got used to the actor playing Jesus, Peter, and all the gang. But it's like starting all over. Was there a conflict with the original cast? The actor playing Jesus this time is particularly weak, uninspired, and without any presence at all. Virtually every other actor outperforms him, making him look like a scared kid in a high school play. I loved The Bible miniseries, particularly Son of God, especially when Jesus taught the scriptures. It's about the message, and its truth and power. But as rich as the book of Acts and remaining New Testament is, there's almost none of the teaching points presented in this series. We see the disciples' conflict. But we don't see them teach. Paul wrote much of the New Testament, and while he is presented in this series, we don't get to see him teach or convert anyone at all. They actually chose to portray Paul as particularly creepy, and he remains creepy after his conversion. When he's trying to earn the trust of Peter and the disciples, he comes across as very untrustworthy-- not Christlike at all. Instead of lots of scripture teaching, we have fictional, writer-imagined drama written into the series all over the place. It's things that may have happened, or maybe didn't. We need a little of that when bringing any book to life, but there's way more things in this series hat didn't necessarily happen-- than the things we know did. The last problem is the series ends with cliffhangers it never answers. Will Herod's wife leave him? Where will the Roman solider drag Peter off to? I was on the edge of my seat, ready for the next episode, but that was the end of the disc. Wait, that was the last disc. That's the forever ending of the series. Seriously? It's like production got shut down. A series this elaborate would naturally produce an ending, with the pacing, and music, letting you know the story is over. No such thing. So in summary: It's a Bible film sparing no expense. It's good to watch and own as many Bible productions as you can. It has its place as a valued production for many reasons. But know it's very violent, and limited in scriptural teaching. It just is what it is.

I am pleased to review this movie and recommend it for both ...
Although one or more quotes seem to be out of established sequential order, this engaging presentation should be seen by all persons who believe the Bible Story of Yeshua of Nazareth - especially all those who descended from Abraham through Ishmael and Isaac. Consequently, at the outset, I am pleased to review this movie and recommend it for both congregational and communal as well as family viewing. No doubt, it will be obvious to instructors of the period, bible scholars, and religionists alike that those who have understanding of the Graeco-Roman world of 1st century AD will be drawn to the breath-taking sequences of the various encounters between the powers. The interplay between Pilate and Caiaphas as well as those between their wives will fuel the imagination of viewers to revel in the back-story portrayal of how it must have been. Indeed this four disc series is perhaps the best portrayal of the events surrounding the fearful reticence of the Apostles as chronicled in the Bible that I have ever seen; and every effort for a global marketing should be made to every Christian community in every city with free viewing for all - something i am encouraging in my own city. With Respect, Dr. Kenneth R. Adderley, Director of Christian Education Iowa M & E Baptist State Convention

You should watch this series.
This is a really well done series that aired nationally on network TV (I think NBC). While accurately depicting the book, it also gives a realistic background story of the political aspects of the Roman occupation. My only disappointment is that it ends about half way through the book of Acts setting the viewer up for a future series. Unfortunately the producers or the networks decided not to renew it for another seasons. I hope they will reconsider.
