Best wood finish product
I will try and always use. Goes on really smoothly and drys evenly. Best finish I have ever used.

Great Product
This is a great product for butcherblock countertop. Seals from all kitchen stains and moisture and easy to apple. Don't have to sand between coats.

Very matte finish is very forgiving
Disclaimer: I am not a woodworker or finisher. First I brushed on 2 coats of gloss on front cherry door. Looked very uneven with gloss and dull areas. Then made the mistake of applying this matte product right out of the can (without thinning). Nightmare brush strokes and drip marks and uneven areas where I tried in vain to correct. But somehow when this mess dried completely in around 4 hours, it looked much better. But still not good. Then I read about the product, which I should have done the first time, and saw recommendations for thinning. Second coat I thinned by 10-15% and went on much better but still difficult and not great. But somehow, when it all dried, it looked great. The super matte finish is extremely forgiving because it doesn't catch any reflections. Very happy now and will follow up with 0000 steel wool and paste wax for perfection. Unless someone comments here that this is a terrible thing to do.

Difficult to apply
Like other reviewers, I did not enjoy applying this finish. I applied over Epifanes high gloss varnish on a front door. While the varnish was a breeze to apply and left a beautiful, even, high-gloss finish, the matte finish was very difficult to brush evenly and began setting in seconds. This results in a hurried application which leaves an imperfect application. Another reviewer suggested using 85/15 ratio with thinner. I believe that's a wise suggestion.

You must thin the varnish before applying!
Great product! The finish is amazing on my kitchen cabinets. I thinned it 20% and used it as my final coat after several coats of the regular high gloss Epifanes varnish and the results were fantastic!I read lots of reviews about this product being difficult to use and lots of brush marks. Thinning and applying efficiently and leaving it alone once you have applied it is key. I thinned it with the Epifanes thinner as recommended.

Matte finish is Perfect final touch
Amazing Products! We just build an outdoor bar out of roughsawn lumber, and this matte finish was the exact look it needed. We used the clear gloss varnish for the initial coats as required. I did hours of research before selecting Epiphanes. Our weather has many extremes, and many expert blogs recommended Epiphanes. Because it breathes, it doesn't get brittle over time. Project is time intensive--7-8 coats required initially BUT annual maintenance for continued protection is just light sanding and one coat.Their customer support is outstanding. I am a total novice. They walked me through my questions and made additional suggestions. I messed up 1/2 way through and send a Sunday night panicked email--amazed when my phone rang Monday am. Their support Rep said he could sense my panic and wanted to reassure me, then walk me through the corrective steps. WOW! Bar is finished and simply beautiful.

So far so good
I built an outdoor table out of cedar a couple years ago, and used a variety of finishings claiming to be weather proof. None of them lasted more than 2 months, with failures such as cracking, pealing of the finish, or greying of the wood. This year I am trying to refinish the table top with Epifanes. After carefully stripping away the old finish, I applied 6 coats of Epifanes Clear Varnish diluted with Epifanes Thinner (50%, 25%, 12%, 6%, 0%, and lastly 0% thinner) and finished with one coat of Epifanes Wood Finish Matte. I sanded with 320 grit paper between each coat.I found that 1 day between coats is sometimes not enough, as the surface was still a little tacky. The end result looks really good, however we will have to see how it holds up.I plan to sand and add 1 coat every year. I will try to remember to update my comment.

Great for exterior doors
I used this along with the Epifanes gloss on a mahogany door. The base coats (I did 3 coats) need to be gloss, which the manufacturer says is required to give the needed UV and moisture protection. And if you want a satin finish, apply 1 or more coats of this matte finish. The results were great. Highly recommended.
