Integrated our TV perfectly into the Home Theater system! The discovery of the year!!
This cable works perfectly to integrate my new smart tv into my surround sound/home theater system. Quality was awesome and the price was very good. The braided cable is very classy looking in my wire bundles! I recommend it highly! Since I had never used the optical audio ports in my equipment before there were a few things I learned. 1) Take the protective caps off of the cable ends (I didn't make this mistake but other reviewers have mentioned it), 2) When you plug the cables into your equipment make sure you plug them in firmly until they snap or click into place.3) Don't kink the cable. The optical "signal" inside the cable is actually a laser beam and I guess it is possible to block that light if the cable kinks. The greatest benefit I have enjoyed from this cable is that now all of my TV audio is routed through the surround sound system but I can choose to skip the surround sound and just listen to the tv audio if I wish. It just simplifies things a lot for my wife who gets a little tangled up when trying to watch the tv but hates trying to figure out which buttons and remotes to use. One thing about this cable, though... it looks like the ends are gold plated but they are just gold plastic (The knurled grips are very sturdy and do appear to be gold colored metal, though). The cables are great quality and the price was very good... just don't expect the ends to be gold plated metal... the cable is optical, not electrical so metal ends are not needed! I found a pretty good explanation of optical audio cables at the How to Geek website. High quality cable. Does the job.
Works as expected. I had issues when my sound bar was connected to my TV through ARC and I was trying to use laptop as my source. I was either able to get the video on my TV with no sound from TV or soundbar or else I was able to get the sound from my soundbar with no video. This solved my problem. Now I have my TV connected to my soundbar through ARC, which kicks in everytime I connect to the cable or Netflix app on my TV and the Optical cable kicks in when I connect my laptop to the TV. I get the video in the TV and sound in the soundbar without the loss of data. I have Sony XBR65X750D TV and a Sony HT-CT790 sound bar.The cables were braided and thick. The package was good as well. 5 stars easily.

I needed to connect the new TV to my audio system for Smart TV content
After purchasing a 4K television & 4K UHD player (and going through the lengthy task of set-up / calibration), I needed to connect the new TV to my audio system for Smart TV content. The only audio-out of the television is Optical Cable, so I went down to the local electronics store and asked for their highest quality Fiber Optic cable; which I paid much more for than I expected. However, I was very disappointed in the cable itself and even more so with the quality of the sound sent to my receiver. Therefore, I ordered from Valesco and the cable arrived in two days. The cable itself was very sturdy, flexible and attractive; it looked and felt of the highest quality. Even better was how happy I was with the sound quality; much improved over the cable that was over twice as much! Anyway, I was so happy that I ordered another cable to change out an existing TOSLINK cable. 100% happy and satisfied; Thanks!

Very good build quality for the money!
Many optical cables on the market are very thin and fragile but these are by far the best quality optical cable for the money. The connectors and their housing are solid. The cable feels stiff but still allows flex for routing through tight bends and turns and is reinforced very well to prevent it from breaking or bending fatigue. There are many cables on the market with "aesthetically pleasing braided cables" but these cables are extremely high quality and braided for proper strengthening of the cable. You will not be disappointed by the quality of these cables. I have never felt anything more sturdy besides maybe Monster cables. I purchased the HDMI Cable (3 Feet x 2 Pack) with Braided Cord (4K 2K 2160p 1080p 3D 18Gbps) - High Speed Category 2 - Ethernet & Audio Return Channel - Black/Grey at first was was so pleased with the quality, which is why I purchased my optical cable from Black Squid. All of my future cables will be purchased from Black Squid from now on!

Seems very well-made
The cord seems to work perfectly, but I've never owned one before, so I have nothing to compare it to. The only thing is, I have to turn the volume on my stereo up a little higher than normal, but I don't know if that expected or not I do have it hooked up to a digital to analog converter, so I don't know if that is the reason or not. The cord does seem really well-made though, and very durable. I like that it braided. I would buy it again

Robust cable for a reasonable price
This is a very sturdy cable for a very reasonable price. I plugged it in and it works--not much else to be said, as this is a digital cable. It will either work completely or not at all. The gold plating on the connectors is kind of gimmicky for this type of cable, but the fact that they are metal actually has a practical benefit in that the connection is very secure and not prone to being dislodged, compared to the more common plastic connectors. I am sure that this cable will last a very long time.

Product works fine, but while tucked behind my wall mount TV
Product works fine, but while tucked behind my wall mount TV, it cannot have pressure from the wall or TV on this cable otherwise it cuts out. My other cable didn't have this issue.

Good cable maybe strong connection
I am having problem giving this product a good and fair review. At first look this cable is great , the braided protective sheath makes the cable strong enough to Breakage, but i would suggest not to bend this cable anyway. The problem I am having is on the connection. I am using the cable to connect a wall mount 50 TV to a soundbar mounted under the TV. I admit I bought a 6" long cable I would only need about 3" in which I have to roll the cable to take some of the slack. As a result the cable is kind of too heavy for the TV top Optical port and it becomes loose or disconnected and the voice on soundbar is intermittent on and off. Maybe the cable needs a strong connection. Other than that good Cable.
