So much fun!
This is an adorable, enormous, surprisingly well-put-together toy that has fascinating functions that all work, is simple to use, and looks wonderful.

Total Disappointment + Ripoff
This was a very disappointing purchase. I bought this as a gift for my grandson. While the design is really nice, the execution is a failure. The boat floods through a faulty seal, tips over and drowns the engine. Then when I wanted to get return it, it seems that my only choice was either to take a replacement (in which I have no confidence) or a refund minus a 25% fee as best I can tell from the very unclear, form-letter emails. It feels like it was a total, expensive total rip off.

HAPPY WITH MY PURCHASE
HAPPY WITH MY PURCHASE. IT IS FUN TO PLAY WITH. ONE PROBLEM IS GETTING THE BATTERY INTO THE BATTERY HOLDER DOWN FAR ENOUGH.

Great for experienced modeler.
This boat has a couple of shortcomings. It is not properly ballasted and the RC system is very limited ability and quality. I bought the boat knowing all of this from various forums I visited. The good point is that the boat can be easily modified by a modeler by adding lead ballast to the keel and installing a quality RC radio with speed controller and rudder servo. With just a little modification this becomes an extremely fun model that looks great and performs well.

RC TUG BOAT
The RC TUG BOAT is a great toy as its maneuverability, aesthetic detailing and scale are all perfect features for a child as well as an adult. That being said about the tug there are a few things that can greatly be improved, mainly the radio control frequency on the one I purchased. My son and I were sailing the tug in the pool and the directional propeller locked itself into a right turn and wouldn't come out of it. When I retrieved the boat from the water I realized that the frequency was at 27Mhz which is a very common RC frequency and very susceptible to RF interference which rendered our "fun" time ruined as steering the boat became impossible with the intermittent radio interference until we went back into the house and the boat became steerable again as it was isolated from the inference.Another thing was that so much water gathered inside the boat while sailing it that it either leaned too heavily on the right or left side almost capsizing the vessel at times. The overall experience with the boat outside of the aforementioned issues were great for my son and I. So if your are able to overlook and/or deal with those issues then you won't regret the purchase.

Good looking, worth $ 50, unless.....
...Unless it simply quits working. And that is what happened to mine. The steering servo mechanism came loose (off) of the rudder's post, and that up inside the boat. The steering servo, it turns out, was well up inside and against the very rear end of the boat, just underneath the deck. It would have probably been easy enough to rememdy--a slipped peg or rod, but ALL of the internal parts that make it go! are not accessible. This is because the hull and deck are of a solid one piece design; many tiny screws and glued together, both. It's put together tightly, which is good, but that plus is a big minus *for making it nearly impossible to even attempt a minor repair to anything inside it.* Only the battery compartment can be seen. Seen !The boat needs careful ballast placement; it bobs, and it leans too hard from side-to-side in full sustained turns. It is, simply, top heavy with the derrick, cabin, and crane, and lifeboat, each up high. It's looks set it apart; this is it's selling point, I think. There really is nice detail that one usually cannot expect to find for 50 to 60 dollars. The water spraying feature worked quite well, and the water tank which fills up automatically does help to make the boat more stable.I had problems with the steering trim from day one. The rudder, for whatever screwy reason, really favored motion over to the left. So, therefore, it always had a weak turning ability to go to it's right. I would have given this rc boat a pretty rating, even all things considered, if it had simply continued to steer...at all !Perhaps your model, should you buy one, will work for a long time, but it's a Who knows? proposition, it seems to me.

Great buy!
The tug was delivered 3 days earlier than projected. I added some weights to make it more stable. It handles beautifully! The water jet is cool. I just putted around the pond for an hour each time. I didn’t have any of the problems some people commented about. My Grandpa was a tugboat Captain. I’m loving it!
