You will not be disappointed! We have watched these over and over as a family. We don’t even have regular T.V. Great entertainment and clean for the family to watch.

Great, sharp, clear black & white images on seasons 1-5 and good, natural color on seasons 6-8. Some of the episodes from Seasons 1, 2 and 3 include the original commercials, if you choose to view them. I was, however, disappointed that many of the commercials that were on the DVD collection were not included on this Blu-Ray collection. The commercials were made especially for each episode and linked the ad to the story. Lots of fun to watch. But despite these omissions, you can't beat the the down home feel of The Andy Griffith Show, and being able to enjoy it in this beautifully remastered set is something to be treasured.

Great TV classic

Another great vintage TV series on DVD. I enjoy watching this series often. Nice quality product. A great escape from today's rat race.

Only the first season in this set is as it should be, with a nice opening layout, captions, info on when the show was first broadcast and alternate openings with the sponsor's logos and closings featuring the cast doing commercials. It's apparent the set was slapped together and the remaining seasons are from sets the company had already put out and were on the shelves. Standard layout, no captions! The show is such a classic it demands better treatment and the remaining season discs ought to be brought up to the standard of the first season. It's really amazing how good the show looks on Blu-Ray, however. Most viewers have only seen the show in reruns. In the first years, those were beat-up 16mm prints and more recently duped videos reformatted for widescreen TVs. The show was shot in a 1.37:1 (square frame) on 35mm film, in the first years, in black-and-white and the image is really sharp and clear. Right now, the set is something of a mixed blessing but fans will still want to own it, especially with all episodes, the pilot from the Danny Thomas show and TV movie, for only $70 to $80. It's really good to return to Mayberry and watch Andy raise his young 'uns. I hadn't realized it before but Barney is really Andy's second "kid," (originally the character was kin to Andy, a cousin) and sort of the inverse of Opie, always needing Andy's hand to guide him.

My husband and I grew up in North Carolina and still live there. We have visited Mt. Airy, NC many times to see the Andy Griffith Museum and the town that also includes Floyd's Barber Shop. I don't know about the rest of the US, but we love our Andy Griffith Shows here in NC! For Christmas, we decided to purchase the complete series so we can watch it anytime we desire. It was a very good purchase!

Amazon.ca excels in service, speed of delivery and customer satisfaction. If the price is right, why shop anywhere else? These dvds cover all episodes from every season. They are bundled in two plastic cases for seasons 1 - 5 in black and white and 6 to 8. in colour. There are no separate sleeves. Every disk clips into place. Keeping track of what I watch is difficult because there are so many disks The picture quality is perfect as is the sound. There is always something to be learned about human behaviour in every episode. This series would be highly recommended for any age. There is no vulgar language, no nudity and people work through their differences in mature ways.

I am not impressed with the way that the discs are packaged in their cases. The discs are stacked 2 at a time with nothing in between them. It will be a lot harder to keep them scratch free. On the other hand, the quality of the discs is excellent and I am thoroughly enjoying the show.

Unfortunately after season 5 Don Knotts left the show and after that it was not nearly as good.

First off great series! The quality is good enough. It will get grainy as the tv size increases. The added commercials are fun. Removing a dvd from the case is not so much fun. They are tightly placed and takes a strong thumb nail on the opposite tab to release. Maybe file the gripping tab with a nail file just a bit. Otherwise I'd give it 4-1/2 stars. To be 5 stars it would have to be blueray and have more extras. Youtube has removed the full episodes so I just bought this set, it's my only full set of any tv series.
