great lip protection but...
This works well if you are VERY careful when you apply it. The description says you can just reheat and reapply if you don't get the right shape/fit, but that isn't really functionally true, it would be really difficult to reshape it into something usable after a fit attempt because it get's super messy as far as it's shape. So DO IT CAREFULLY. I didn't really pay attention to the water temp, I just boiled some water and put it in a tea cup. Then I very carefully floated the new square piece on the top of the water, it will float from the surface tension (don't fully submerge it!). Then wait about 30 seconds and it will turn clear as glass. Then quickly take it out of the water with a spoon, continuing to keep it afloat in the spoon basin. Go to a mirror, and carefully drape it over your teeth and fit it to your teeth with not too much force or you'll bite right through it. Just be gentle with it while it is soft. Squeeze it a little onto your teeth with thumb and index finger to get it to fully shape around your bottom teeth and gums. You'll have maybe 15 to 20 seconds to work with it in your mouth before it starts to cure. Once you've got a good shape let it sit there and harden for about another minute. I would NOT put cold water in your mouth right away, let it cure slowly. If you cool it off too fast it will warp a little and you'll feel it torque your teeth a little, almost like wearing a new retainer before your teeth get adjusted, but it will still be usable. But to avoid that, just let it cure slowly if you want no warping. My only gripe with this company is that the price is quite high for the actual cost of their raw materials. I happen to know that the raw materials are VERY inexpensive. They should give you a whole sheet of it for the price they are charging. At least 10 squares for that price! A lot more squares would allow anyone lots of practice to get the fit just right. You only get three little squares, it's a bit greedy on their part if you ask me... It's really not enough to practice the fitting process with, and believe me you need to practice the fitting process! So just be careful during fitting and you should be fine, once you get one fitted just right, you can trim it a little with scissors to get any of the super thin plastic around the edges cleaned up. If you can get one fitted just right, it will last a long time, maybe even years. PRO TIP: get some denture cleaner tablets and soak it after you play on it. It will build up tarter over months and can cause tooth decay issues if you don't keep it clean. Super easy, just pop an efferdent cleaning tab in a tea cup and let it sit there until the next use, then rinse it off and use again.

Works for Tardive Dyskinesia
I have tardive dyskinesia and was constantly scraping the inside of my cheeks on my teeth. Nothing helped — not wax, not bulky mouthguards. Then I tried Liprotek (a lip guard made for woodwind players) and it’s been amazing. Thin, moldable, and actually protects my cheeks without getting in the way. If you struggle with cheek biting or mouth trauma, this is worth trying!

It Really Works!
I'm picking up my alto sax after decades of not playing. I now have an uneven tooth in my lower front, which was digging into my lip when I played. I'm not "biting," the location of the tooth just rubbed when I folded my lip over my bottom teeth. I followed the directions and molded this over the four bottom front teeth. Not only did it make the rough uneven tooth smooth, but it gave me an even and flat "base" of lower teeth. I played for an hour with zero pain, and the flat "base" cured the squeaking I was getting because the pain affected my embouchure. Great value and functionality!

Good idea but doesn’t work well
I’ve been playing woodwinds (primarily all saxophones) for many years and my front lower incisors starting some wear and thinning top edges, the soprano was becoming an increasingly painful experience with maintaining embouchure for extended periods of time and recovery. Heard about this protector hoping it would provide some relief but it simply doesn’t work as advertised. Once “molded” to the teeth it fails to provide stability with a great feeling of awkwardness in tone generation and articulation. Everyone’s oral structure is different so be aware of trying this out to resolve problems as generic solution attempt.

Super easy to form.
Easy to use. Sets firm after you set it, but it's as thin as you want, not rigid. You customize the liprotec to fit you by heating. Real simple. I really don't have a problem with the item, it was just harder for me to play when wearing it. Be sure to keep it in some kind of case cause they are super easy to misplace. You get 2, so you can always use the other.

Saved my lip!
I got a gig that I didn't have many days to prepare for. After practicing many hours my lip started to be in pain making practicing difficult. I got this and it saved my day! I used a candy thermometer to make sure the water was the right temperature and then formed it to my teeth. I had to try about 3 different times to get the feel just right. It was easy to restart if the fit didn't work. It was hard to make it thin enough not to effect my playing but thick enough to protect my lip but eventually I found a good balance. I wouldn't use this in a concert, but when having to practice for many hours it allowed me to keep going and not get lip pain.

Hard to use.
I hate these things. Once you get them fitted over your teeth, they harden up and are hard to take off or put back on. I was hoping they'd be more flexible. I miss the EZO denture pads I cut up and used for 40 years.
