Accurate, precise scale with a lackluster LCD
This is a great little scale. I bought it to weigh bikes. Generally, the closer an item is to the scale's weight capacity, the more accurate the measurement is likely to be. Bathroom scales can vary by a half-pound or more between readings (or worse, lie and show you a reading based on the previous). Better to choose a scale appropriate to the purpose.Build quality seems robust. The unit is heavier than I expected. It comes with two AAA non-alkaline batteries. There's a mode-switch in the battery compartment to toggle between 'Basic' and 'Advanced' modes. Both modes actively measure weight constantly. The difference is that Basic mode has an automatic shutoff and a 'hold' feature when it detects a constant weight. Advanced mode measures forever and doesn't turn off until the battery dies.Accuracy and precision are both excellent. It consistently measures 1% heavier than my 5kg digital kitchen scale over a variety of weights, which itself is dead-accurate with my calibrated weight set. If you don't trust your AMW, it has a calibration feature that you can set with a (not included) 1kg weight. The only negative is the LCD screen. Viewing angles on the vertical axis are minimal: if you're not viewing it head-on, it washes out. However, the horizontal axis viewing angle is around 120 degrees and the backlight is always activated when the scale is on.I almost talked myself up to the Park and Feedback Sports scales for this purpose. I'm glad I didn't. In a shop, perhaps the others are more likely to stand up to abuse. For occasional use, though, this AWS is ideal.

Worked great--just not for my purpose
I ordered these overnight mail and they came in a flash. They are small, light, and easy to hold. Have a nice hook on them. I think they are probably great as luggage weighers, liked that there was a decimal point, you can look at pounds or kg. My problem was that I wanted to use them in Africa to hang a blanket and measure baby weights (health research) and the babies turned out to be too big and wiggly to keep in a blanket. So there we were, in the middle of the market, with 15 people all trying to hold up a piece of the blanket. But if I wanted these for weighing luggage or other non-living things, I think they would be great.

The light up screen and large number display make it easy to read regardless of conditions
I use this scale for weight checks on newborns and it works quite well. Compact and lightweight makes it idea for home visits. The light up screen and large number display make it easy to read regardless of conditions. I had troubles zeroing it at first but figured it out with the small instruction book. Seems to be sturdy and will last.

Accurate to a pound right out of the box
Lots of great reviews on this one. I've only used a few times so far, but will update the review if anything changes.Out of the box, I tested it for accuracy. I grabbed a 1-gallon bottle of store-bought spring water and weighed it. It settled on 8.66lbs. Weighed an empty container with the scale (this weight is dubious due to it's lightness) and came in at 0.15lbs. This gives me 8.51lbs for a gallon of water. Google tells me that at 60 degrees F, a gallon of water will weigh about 8.34lbs. For my needs (I only need to be accurate to the pound), this is excellent accuracy. It does come with calibration adjustment instructions but I have not tried to adjust it since it was so accurate for my needs out of the box.Note, the weight display will jump around for about 5 seconds, then it will settle on a weight (I assume an average of the measured weights) and display "HOLD".Functions with the single button on the front are fairly intuitive...Press once to turn on, press again to tare, hold down for a few seconds to power down.Would buy again.

LCD failed
The LCD failed and it can't be read properly now. Otherwise somewhat useful, but the hook is too small, so it's hard to hook luggage onto it.

very inaccurate
I just got it and now returning it. It looks nice but was vary inaccurate. I measured several items, less then 5 lbs and it was off about 20%. A 2.5 lb calibration weight came in at 1.9 lbs. I did the calibration procedure, which the manual had the wrong weight listed. After cal the cal weight was correct ( 44 lbs ) but all the light weight items were still way off. This means the sensor has poor linear response. normally this can be calibrated out with a microprocessor so I don't understand why this is not done or its just a defected unit ( I am an electrical engineer and have designed products like this ) . I also noticed that if you tilt the scale just a little bit when weighting something the numbers drift all over the place. Really a poor design. I don't recommend it.

Totally worth it for $12
I got this for the completely vain purpose of weighing bikes. Totally works, but still kinda silly. The low price is what swayed me. It's also come in handy for weighing bags before for flights, so that's cool.Something to consider, though, is that you have to lift the item up and hold it steady for it to lock in a weight, so if you'd have trouble doing that with the item, you might want to consider a scale you can secure to something to hang it from. This one isn't specifically designed for that, though I guess I could put a hook in the ceiling of my garage. Would I finally have crossed the line, then? I think not! Totally gonna do that...
