Four Stars
I loved Boxcar Children as a youngster. I bought these for my 10-year-old great-niece and she loves them too!

Subjective: 3 stars, Objective: 4 stars
Not a sports fan at all, so this one didn't overly hold my interest. I have noticed with some of the newer ones that the stories are made a little more contemporary without losing the original appeal (electronic tablets, pop idol, etc). Guests include Ashley, Danielle, Kayla, Mrs. Thompson, Coach Olson. One picky point: Violet is in the woods and knows it's time for dinner because of the slant of the sun! Ummmmmmm.....ok, that's great that she has that skill. But could she not have a watch or cell phone? In this day and age, why would Grandfather allow her to be hanging out in the woods alone??

The Boxcar Children find out who the culprit is in time and Jessie gets to go to Brazil everybody is happy and the Boxcar Children have solved another mystery
The Boxcar Children are an exciting mystery series by Gertrude Chandler Warner. The books take place in many different places. The main characters in the Mystery of the Soccer Snitch are The Boxcar Children-Henry, Jessie, Violet and Benny Alden, their Grandfather-James Alden, Soccer Star- Kayla and her parents, Jessie’s teammates on Chicago Fire Soccer Team and the head soccer coach- Coach Olson. The Mystery of the Soccer Snitch takes place on opening day at the soccer field. Coach Olson is about to say something to the crowd when Kayla’s mother barges in and immediately tells the coach that somebody has written a letter to them full of lies about Kayla and why she shouldn’t be a child mascot in Brazil. The Boxcar Children must find the culprit in time for Kayla to go to Brazil. But when some of Jessie’s teammates accuse her of writing the letter things are turned around. The Boxcar Children find out who the culprit is in time and Jessie gets to go to Brazil everybody is happy and the Boxcar Children have solved another mystery. The Mystery of the Soccer Snitch is a great book for 2nd and 3rd graders but I am in 5th grade and I still like them so older kids should too.
