If I Ran the Dog Show: All About Dogs (The Cat in the Hat's Learning Library)

The perfect book for little dog lovers!
Purchased for my 2 and 3.5 year old daughters as part of our preschool at home program. They each love dogs and we have multiple other “The Cat in the Hat’s Learning Library” books that we enjoy. I figured this would be a great addition and I was spot on! The pictures really are fantastic in this book and my 3.5 year old regularly quotes many of the facts she has learned from reading this. This book is a bit over my 2 year olds head but she still enjoys the pictures and takes bits of information away from her sister helping her. Their FAVORITE fact they learned was about different types of having either an overbite or underbite. My 3.5 year old loves pretending to be a bulldog now and holds her lower jaw forward having an underbite for a moment. This book really covers a lot of very interesting information from breeds to working dogs it’s all there in a child friendly format! I highly recommend this for anyone with a little dog lover in their family.

Obviously not by Dr Seuss
It's obviously not by Dr Seuss, it says so right on the cover, and it's not about a real dog show, so all dogs CAN get awards. As for the words that are "too big" for children, that is what reading is for. Learning. It's a good opportunity to teach your children these words. I recommend it for kids who like learning about dogs.

Recommended by adult dog people and appreciated by little kids.
This was recommended by several serious dog people for kids from 3-10. I followed up and purchased several for short people in the family. Obviously, you have to read to little kids, but there are quite a few words -- and good explanations of what proper dog terminology means -- and even older kids seemed to like it. Not precisely about dog shows, but excellent information on the wide variety of purebred dogs that are available.Recommended.

Dr Seuss, what's not to love
As a crazy yorkie mom, I had to have this, plus bought two more for my great nieces. Very cute story

The Cat in the Hat explains it all!
This is one of a great series that breaks down things to a level that preschoolers can understand. I can’t tell you how much my little guy loves the series.

Dog fancier? Future Jr. Handler? Buy them this book!
So incredibly happy I bought two! This goes over the parts of a dog in the cutest way possible! The breeds are even recognizable, in a Dr.Seuss way.Never too early to start, but most suitable for early readers. I bought it for my 3 y niece & a 2nd copy for my baby due in Feb. Future dog fancier? Future Jr. Handler? I’m sure I’ll buy this book again to gift to friends.

Colorful and interesting
Beutiful pictures. Great for children to develop interest in dogs. I only wish it to have more coverage - I guess this is more adult expectation than what a child requires.

A terrific book for kids
A terrific book for kids, written in typical Cat in the Hat fashion. Focus is on positive dog qualities with learning thrown in. Information is accurate. Talks about dogs temperament, body, jobs in a fun way. A great companion to actually taking a child to a dog show or similar event. I've bought several copies to give as gifts to teacher friends for their young students.

A bit long for a Cat in the Hat book
These books are geared to young children. I found it too long. Asking a young child to sit through over 40 pages is too much. The information in the book is nice. So it will be more of a collector item rather than an actual sit with Nanna and read item.
