TevaMen's Terra Fi 5 Universal Outdoor Sandals

For serious hiking. Go down a size!
The Terra Fi 5 are great sandals. As with most sandals, they take a little while to break-in. But once they do, they are very comfortable and keep your feet anchored in place. The style is simple and not very exciting, but these are intended for long hikes, not fashion. The sandals are heavier and stiffer than most other Teva offerings. They are very comparable to Chacos or the Bedrock Cairns. The break-in process, unfortunately, can be very painful. Due to the way the sandals are constructed, they will do a lot of rubbing against your heels. The result can be chaffing, blistering, or something in between. It's not pleasant and it can take many days to fully break-in. This is the unfortunate reality of virtually all footwear, but given the stiffness of these sandals, it's particularly pronounced. So be prepared to have some messed up heels for a few days. But once they are broken in, it's worth it.GO DOWN A SIZE! I normally wear a size 10, but the Terra Fi size 10 was too large. Had a lot of space in front of my toes. Going down to size 9 made a huge difference. (Tevas in general seem to be fairly big so I'd recommend going down 1-2 sizes). You want the front straps just behind your toes, not covering them. Getting the sizing right is very important with any pair of sandals, especially ones like these that are intended for long hikes. You will absolutely hate the look and feel of these sandals if the sizing is wrong. The Terra Fi can weigh you down as it is intended for serious hiking and multi-day trips. They are overkill for everyday wear and most light hiking. If that is what you are interested in, I would recommend the Hurricane line over the Terra Fi. The Hurricanes are lighter and have a softer footbed, available in more colors, and is geared more towards less strenuous activities, while emulating the look of the Terra Fi.

Perfect. Not too heavy and excellent support - amazing for a very open sandal.
I have bad feet. Many of the reviews around the net said these are overkill, and the Hurricane model is indeed impressive at a lower price point. Other reviews said they were unnecessarily heavy for every day use when not going on an extended hike. They are slightly heavier than the Hurricane model, but despite my advanced age and disabilities, I thought they were pretty light. Some more interesting clors in the tradition of the Terra-Fi might be nice.

These are always great sandals.
This is my third pair of the Terra sandals. They wear very well, very comfortable, and I choose them for the traction. It used to be Vibram rubber but has evolved to Spider rubber, which has similar traction even though I trusted the Vibram more, but that is probably just me. I got these to have a "nice" pair to wear in public, but the last ones are still going strong, I just beat on them and they don't look great. One thing about the purchase, and I contacted the seller- they showed up as a women's size in my Amazon cart. But I ordered and they came in as a men's 12 as hoped. Hopefully it'll get updated in the system. The seller was very good to communicate with.

Badly made
I bought the Teva sandals in Sept 2023. They lasted until February 2023 when one of the straps came out from where it was glued into the sole of the shoe. I wasn’t able to return the sandals as I was out of the country. I fixed it with gorilla glue, but now the other shoe also broke. I am really disappointed as other than this I love the sandals - comfortable, excellent sole giving great traction for hiking. I really wish they were better made as I would otherwise buy another pair.

The best off-road sandal on the market.
My 4th pair of this design. I’ve tried them all and this one gives the best combination of support, grip and durability. I hike weekly and love this sandal.

Best Tevas I have had!
These are mens, which is what I wanted. The order confirmation listed them as womens, even though they are labeled mens on the Amazon site. I have worn Tevas for years and love them. Only thing I would have liked before was a more aggressive sole, which is excellent on these. Light padding inside the straps at several points also improves the comfort. I have always worn a size 10 in Tevas, but I tried on a 9 at an outdoor store and they were a perfect fit (also listed for $40 more than I paid here). For what I do and put these through, there is nothing I would change.
