Relatively easy replacement for my old Solar hot water pump.
I needed to replace my old pump that was over 30 years old. Original model (El Cid) no longer available. At first it looked like I'd have to spend hundreds for an equivalent pump, but found this one as a great alternative. Their videos are short yet very helpful, explaining that the 3 meters of head pressure is actually more than adequate when working with a closed pressurized loop like this. My old system still has the original PV panel on the roof to run the pump with no additional sensors or switches. This panel may have originally been rated at 24V, but this new pump has built-in protection if the voltage is greater than 24V or less than 6V, so I thought it was worth a try before replacing the panel. It works great. No power lights unlike my old one, but it gently whirs/hums when powered so you know when it's working. The 1/2" fittings were the same as my old pump to replacement was little more than plug & play. I did have to make 2 cuts in a copper pipe due to space constraints, but this was easy with a hand pipe cutter & I used a single piece of flex mesh piping with a Shark Bite fitting on one end (already attached, although you can get separately). Very satisfied.

Good quality
Nice and quiet. Been running on my solar heater off a PV panel for half a year and no problems so far.

They hold up pretty well. I've had one fail already
They hold up pretty well. I've had one fail already. The NPT threads are tough to get to seal. The little motor is a workhorse though. Hopefully the one that failed was just defective.

Awesome Little Pump! Throw your Laing in the trash!!
Velleman PSSMV1USA 3-12Vdc Switching Power Supply I purchased this pump to replace my Laing E series pump used on a hot water circ. system. I previously had the old Laing 303 model and it lasted 13 years. I replaced it with the "new" E series model, and it lasted 15 months! It got to where the last rotor/impeller only lasted one month, and they are about $90 each!! I tried everything, I even installed a new air bleed valve, a 100 mesh whole house spin down strainer, and then, even though I have 100% copper pipes, a 50 mesh WYE strainer on the hot water line right before the pump and the rotors still kept going out. And I was only running it on the slowest speed! In the course of a couple years (not including the original 303) I went thru 2 pumps, and 5 rotors! What a Pain!! Never Again! This entire little pump cost far less than just a rotor for the Laing! I like that the rotor/impeller spins on a ceramic shaft and doesn't need to do a balancing act on a ball like the Laing! My only complaint was (like another noted here) it was a little bit noisy. I was running it on a 12 volt power supply I had laying around. For $14 I bought an adjustable power supply here on Amazon that has a range of 3-12 volts. I turned it down one notch to 9 volts, it is WAY quieter than the Laing was on its lowest setting, you could barely hear it! If you turn it down to 7.5 volts you can't tell its running without a stethoscope, seriously! I didn't think it was running!! That's where I left it, and its working beautifully, and has already outlasted the last Laing rotor!! I am so far loving this pump!! One last note, Amazon had the brass 2.2 GPH versions mislabeled (they also had the correct label from the manufacturer). I received two SS versions, then emailed Mike the seller and he sent me free of charge the correct upper housing with brass fittings. Great customer service!! Hopefully Amazon has got that straightened out!Update 4/25/16: Four months later and its still working like a charm! I checked the power consumption, and at 9 volts, which is silent and works great, and its only consuming .8 watts! Compare that with up to 30, or whatever for the old Laing!Update 3/27/17: Still going strong! I just had one little hiccup however. I started to get a very slight drip. I contacted Mike to see if I could purchase a new set of screws and O-ring. He asked for my address and sent them out for free! Looks like one of the screws was galled a bit and not cinching up. But the problem solved thanks to Mike and his excellent customer service!!

Hot water pump
The pump has been operating in my solar hot water system for the last 5 months and is working fine and is very silent.

Does not meet advertisied specifications.
While the pump does actually pumps liquid it does not handle high temp well. It goes into thermal shut down at 210F. While the specs of this pump state Max working temperature: 230ø F / 110ø C. So this pump does not meet the advertised specification which makes it useless for my needs.

Sweet little pump.
So far is working flawlessly. Sun comes up and on goes the pump, circulating hot (sometimes very hot) water through my solar water heating system. The solar panel suggested for it seems to be perfect. I'm very happy.

Solid pump, works as described.
As per reviews on amazon.com, this is a great solar pump. I have it paired with a 10W 12V solar panel that I use to circulate water through a solar water panel to heat an above ground pool. I can't speak to how long it will last, but, so far - it's been even better than I was expecting.

Creative hydronic application.
Versatile, the higher heat rating works well. Low power requirement a big plus.

Maybe ok for a small/ medium hobby fish tank but notning more.
Small. Fits in the palm of your hand. Didn't pump for me. Maybe for a medium fish aquarium but nothing more. Tried to pump through a small heater core in my boat cabin. Epic fail through 1/2" piping. I don't believe other reviews which I relied on. Can't return as it is past 30 days. Two thumbs down.
