This camera is worth the cost!
I have had my Sony A7 II for just over a month now. I have used it mainly for sports shooting to date and I love it! Light, portable and produces very high quality photographs. Once you get the controls set to English (Youtube this!) it was very user friendly. Controls are easy to understand and manipulate. Screen/electronic view finder are high resolution and superb quality. The auto focus and shutter speeds have actually worked great for sports photographs of my son's baseball team (once I shut off the automatic picture review, again Youtube how to do this). It does eat through batteries fast, but they are cheap. My only issues with this great camera system are as follows; the instruction manual that comes with the camera sucks and the camera default is set for Korean (I had to refer to Youtube to get the camera into English). The kit lens is OK for normal lighting, but is on the bottom end for low light with no flash. I will be upgrading to a better lens when finances allow. Overall, the camera is worth the price!

It's ok.
Battery goes really quick. Doesn't always focus well. No touch screen. Could be more intuitive when switching sections in the menu. The on/off switch is in a dumb place. It's where most cameras have their zoom button, so until you get used to it, you'll be accidentally shutting it off instead of zooming. Zooming is done by hand, which is good since the battery can barely handle focusing, and I don't even use a flash. Picture quality is pretty decent, but with the menu being a pain in the butt for small changes, takes for ever to prepare for each shot. If you go back to auto for something quick, it still holds onto most your settings, so you have to go back and deal with the menu again, all why draining battery. I wanted it for the in camera stabilization. I just really wish it was more user friendly and had better battery life. I read in reviews it was bad, but I didn't think it was THAT bad. I have to carry at least 3 batteries around. So far I haven't had any mechanical issues, but haven't used it much do to the massive inconvenience of getting a quick shot of something. I find it easier to use my high quality point and shoot. If I know I am going to be specifically taking landscape shots in a certain light, and have time to mess with settings ahead of time for 10 minutes, then I use it. I've used the 28-70 kit lens, because I wanted to get familiar with camera before wasting my money on lenses for it. It's o.k. Could be better obviously.
