Pretty good. Get the updated version for better playback options though.
This is actually really easy to use, and works. The instructions are online, so make sure to scan the QR code in the package. You just have to charge it and make sure to turn it on before you use it. And it WILL NOT playback when it's plugged in. It has to be unplugged, charged, and set to on. The on slider is easy to miss. BUT The older version will play multiple files, but it plays ALL THE FILES sequentially with one press of the button, and stops at the next press. Get the "updated" version that specifically has different playback modes if you want more control over how the playback happens.

An amazing and versatile sound box
I needed a sound box to put into a project that plays circus music. They don't make any that I could find. This sound box is programmable and you can put what you want into it up to 8mb. I thought the batteries were dead at first when it would not operate. It took some time to discover there is a very tiny unlabeled on/off switch on it. Also, this review asked about volume control. Again, I did not know it had one, but looking at the board I discovered a very tiny unlabeled switch for low, med and high volume settings. It would have been very nice if this device came with some kind of simple instructions and directions. That said, it is simple to load music into and the sound quality is really amazing considering the small size, even at high volume.

Handy board with a bad speaker, though that's easy to fix (see details). Recommended
I got the ICStation Recordable Sound Module (8MB) for a small project. I was asked to make a small box with a button that triggers a sound, and that led me to this item. The ICStation board is kind of an all-in-one solution, right? Well, the board arrived without any issues. The LIR2032 batteries arrived with some juice already in them. I hooked the board to a Win10 PC, and copied in my file (and deleted the one that it shipped with). To use the board, you slide the power switch to "on" and press the button. There's a small surface-mounted volume slider. The included speaker is not great... it's about on par with the transducers that they put in greeting cards. For my project, I got rid of the momentary switch and the speaker, replacing it with a 3" full-range unit (pictured). I decided to remote the micro-USB too, using a panel mount port that's connected to a cable. The only part that's tougher to remote is the power slider switch. The power switch is surface-mounted, so I just left the switch in place (in the OFF position) and soldered in leads for another, non-momentary switch. Overall, that results in something that sounds a lot better, and is easier to mount permanently inside an enclosure. Unfortunately, the PCB only has two small holes for mounting, but they aren't something you can use standoffs with. As far as the core board goes, it's pretty amazing what you get for about $15. The batteries alone seem like something that you'd spend a few bucks on. Out of the box, the board does what it says it will. Put a better speaker on it, and you will have something that sounds decent, too. As far as the other stuff I did, with the USB relocation and other switches, it's just good for you to know that it can be done. Recommended

Works great!
This was exactly what I needed. I made a shadow box for a loved one with music and lights and I was so happy with this. It holds a lot of music, I was expecting maybe 30 seconds but it holds much more! It plays the whole song I loaded and the volume is impressive. It's loud if you need it to be! Very happy that it also has a string adhesive backing so you can stick it onto a surface. Brilliant device!

The Coolest Little Speaker!!
I am seriously so impressed with this tiny little circuit and speaker! I bought this for my son's costume. He went as Speaker Man from Skibidi Toilet (I know...I was at a loss for words too...). I actually found Speaker Man's costume here on Amazon. My son wanted it to blast Everybody Wants to Rule the World by Tears for Fears. Since I have not had a boombox since the '90s, I had to figure something else out 😄 I searched up mini speakers to play music and this is one of the ones that popped up. Of course I read the reviews, just like you are now. Many people complained about it being difficult. It was not!! The hardest part was buying the song and clipping it down to around 3 minutes to be able to upload onto this circuit. I will explain that part down below. After I had the song cut down to 3 minutes, I uploaded it and bam!!! The song played on the circuit and speaker. I bought the one with a button because I wanted my son to be able to turn it off and on with a button since he was wearing it at school. It was incredibly loud! My son, who is 9, easily spotted the switch for volume. We turned it down and it was perfect. Okay...for the tech stuff. By the way, I would not consider myself a techie of any sort. I get tech stuff, sometimes, and it works, sometimes 😁 I am an inventor and author, so the tech stuff is just to get me by. I bought the song off of iTunes because it was the easiest. You do have to have an Apple account. I have an iPad that I rarely use, so I created an account years ago. I used my PC to buy the song in iTunes. Then, I clicked the 3 dots to the right of the song and it showed details. Click on Album Info. Click Options. Go to STOP and put in the time that you want the song to end. I used 3 minutes because that was the most amount of time of that song to put onto the circuit. Click OK. Download your song. When you get to your D drive, delete the song that is already downloaded. Upload your new song and it should be super quick. Good luck!

Well made and fun to play with.
The quality of this little speaker is surprising. The default music on the device sounds really amazing and was probably optimized for that effect. It was easy for me to reprogram the audio file with my own. I bought three of these to play with. I reconnected the speaker output to an eight ohm bookshelf speaker in cabinet. This little guy was able to drive this speaker and make things much louder for my application. I'm very happy with my purchase.

A mono 48kbps MP3 will play for about 20 minutes in good enough quality for what it is.

It worked initially and played the default music. I deleted this and put my file onto the device. It played this but the default music played right after. Erased again but then the computer would not recognize the device. Is there anything else I can do or should I return it?
