Update: So far so good
Update: like others mine stopped working. The leak detector would never reconnect. It initially worked. It seems like the firmware update it constantly wants to do broke it. It is now useless to me. Would be great if I knew how to reset it. .....Original review: At this time I have only had the Guardian for a few days. Installation and setup went well, and as long as you follow the instructions, it should go well for anyone. I bought the kit with only 1 sensor as I was a little worried about how well this system would/will work.Downloaded the app and here is a tip; plug in the Valve Controller first. It is easy to add the devices to your app-- the Valve controller had to go through some updates.I tested the system putting water on the leak detector as well as the extender and all went well. The alert to your phone is very fast. The valve controller automatically closed when sensors were wet. I was able to re-open the valve from my phone.CONCERNS: I worry about the stability of the valve controller unit to stay connected to my home Wifi. So far, in the short time I've had it this has NOT been a problem.I plan to test the system out every week for a month and report back here with the results. If all goes well I hope to buy more detectors and sensor probes.To me, this product seems like the BEST system available. You don't have to cut into your water line, which I think is a huge plus. It actually turns off the main water when a leak is detected. Exactly what I was looking for if I were to design a system myself.

Was great, it worked then a firmware update stopped all that.
I purchased this unit, it was working great. The app needed updating, did it. Tried to reconnect the valve control, valve needed new firmware update. 10 minutes, HA! 5 hours later, just kept flashing. Then the lights cycled, tried to reconnect, nothing. Emailed support, tried a bunch of different things, nothing. They said they would contact me about a replacement unit. 2 weeks later still nothing. Ive been emailing them, no response.

Next to impossible to update firmware. . .Good luck getting customer support
Device would not connect to device as it said it needed to update the firmware. Firmware update is done through the debug tool (nothing in the instructions about this and spent about 2 hours researching on the support site). After many repeated calls with no answer, I left voice mails. No answer. I sent three emails, no response other than an automated they received it. After many repeated attempts, I finally got hold of tech support and spend an hour and 15 minutes with them. I still could not get the firmware to update. I exchanged it for another controller. I am having the same problem with the replacement. This device is a slick idea. If you can get it to connect to your home wifi, fantastic. I was not able to.

Cannot get in touch with company at all with any problems or questions.
As far as I can tell the unit works fine, however my leak detection sensor continually beeps even though the status shows as dry. Ive tried to contact the company at least 4 times but haven’t received a response at all. I’m definitely not too thrilled with this. I initially wanted to order more leak detectors after getting the beeping figured out but the company’s lack of a response has prevented me from doing that. Unfortunately its too late for me to return the unit so I have to decide what my next step will be. I would be hesitant to order from Guardian.

A very good option once I got through tech support
I really like the way this unit clamps to BOTH sides of the valve....which is what I needed. I have PEX pipe on both sides of my water main, and needed something that would be OK in that application. This product was physically VERY easy to install. However, after fudging around with the app for 30+ minutes, I ended up calling in to tech support. They had to do some things on their end of the server to eventually get the unit up and running. Then, the leak detector was faulty, and a new one was sent.While these initial install problems were a bit frustrating, once up and running this unit has been flawless. I have it installed on a second home. I use it to turn off the water main when we are leaving, and turn it on when we arrive. I also like the peace of mind that if I accidentally forget, I can still turn it off from miles away.

Read before you buy
I purchased this valve back in December 2020 for a new house build. 6 months later I go to install it and it will not communicate with the software. I call tek support sort of helpful spent over 2 hours trying to get it to work. they elevate me to tier 2, they give me a long procedure to follow nothing I get them on phone and he says that unit has the old firmware you must have purchased it from home depot or amazon and are not a reseller they sell old units. now he is sending me this looooooooong list of things to go through....... I have done it yet buy it direct.

Firmware update failed
I was really hoping this product would work but after spending over 2 hours trying to update firmware I gave up. The app would see the device and require a firmware update. The update would never go thru. I tried to use the debugging tools to manually update firmware but would constantly get disconnected. Gave customer support 5 minutes to pick up a call in the middle of the day and didn’t get an answer. I sure hope this was just an older unit
