So strange - but danged if it doesn't work!! :)
When I saw this item, it fell into the category of "sounds too good to be true". It was supposed to be both cheap and effective - and how many things can we say that about these days? I don't know how many, but you can add one more to the list. The base was a little too narrow for my Otter Box cover on my iPhone, so I gave the speaker to my brother - who was EXTREMELY skeptical. The surprise on his face was classic! He kept putting it on and off his phone while he played music - and the difference was marked. Probably audiophiles everywhere are groaning due to lack of "something or other" in fancy-sound-speak - but for folks like me, it plays clearly and with increased volume. Added bonus is there really isn't anything to break on it - it is soft rubber. Even if you sit on it, should be fine! I would definitely purchase it again for anyone who didn't have a bulky cover on their iPhone.

A Very Poor Attempt at Sound Amplification and an Even Worse Stand
Purchased this in hopes to improve the sound volume of my iPhone that often sits on my office desk streaming Pandora music while I work. Conceptually it should work, but the execution is just poor. Very poor. This device is meant to gather the audio from the bottom of the phone, and push it out the larger horn-shaped orifice, directing the audio toward the listener. However, the audio is only captured from only one of the speakers of your phone (gathering only half the audio and volume) and pushed through a narrow hole that worsens an already very limited soundwave coming from such small speakers. Nor do the speakers line up with the channels built to capture the audio. Also I should mention this is constructed of a very rubbery material. It is not sturdy. Stood upright or horizontal, this does not act as a safe or secure stand for your $200-$800 smartphone. Definitely opt for an alternative product.

Awesome speaker
First thing: this is not a bose speaker. Not expect this quality of sound, but its great speaker. Its easy to carry, small (good for travel) dont need batteries, or energy, or cable. Produces a good quality sound. Actually enhances the sound of your iphone. This is flexible and i carried in my suitcase several times and still fine. Is hard enough to put my ipfone. Its easy to use it (it is necessary to take your case). I have used it in my car, in my room, while I cook. I like this device (its not a case), is innexpensive and does his job (not for parties) I recommended.

OK I guess
It amplifies the sound a little. What else can be said? It is not expensive and the rubber material is OK. It will not work well with other models (such as my son's Iphone 3) unless you turn the phone backwards so the speaker coincides with the hole for the horn. Finally-- and this may be important to some people--you WILL HAVE TO TAKE YOUR IPHONE OUT OF THE CASE to use it.

Works great
I was actually quite surprised by this little speaker. I have purchased separately powered speakers as well as this little powerless speaker. I find for what it is, it works quite well. This boosts the sound volume (please note it does not boost the sound quality like an external speaker might) a reasonable amount. It's easy to take anywhere and it gets the job done. It's very flexible so you don't really have to worry about damaging it, though on the downside it can sometimes be a hassle to put the two pieces back together (removed a star for this). Overall I was impressed with how well it worked. It's enough to give me a little extra speaker noise, it also doubles as a stand (which I use regularly to watch movies while in bed). External Speaker: - The advantage of a powered external speaker is the improvement in sound quality, not just volume. - The main downside is the extra power requirement, often consuming many batteries. Silicone Horn Speaker: - Main advantage is increased volume - Main disadvantage is that it doesn't clear up the signal, so you will still have mediocre sound just like your normal speaker, it will simply be louder.

Amazing !
I could not believe it when I got this out of the packet after spending about $3 on it. It is just as good as any tiny speaker and we even had to turn it down. We used it on a night out on our boat and happily listened to music. No batteries, no recharging .......... hats off to whoever thought of making this old idea into a modern well designed thing. It is also very soft and ... well .... I hope people get to hear about it as the inventor deserves the sales.

This sounds cheap and tinny
This neat-looking magaphone stand provides about 4 times the volume. This comes to about 6dB, not the claimed 13dB, which would be 20 times the volume. Four times the volume seems pretty good, right? But there is absolutely NO bass coming out of the horn. Depeche Mode's "Something To Do" Metalmix is the only song suitable for this cute add-on. Google this and you'll see what I mean. On the positive side, you could make calls with this on because the mic isn't obstructed. It might make a great speakerphone for loud environments. I have a thin and hard iPhone case, and it slips over it with no problem.
