I’m really happy with the Wisdom Panel Premium Dog DNA Kit. It provides detailed insights, including breed identification, health tests, traits, and even relatives. The results were clear and easy to understand, giving me a great picture of my dog’s ancestry and health. A fantastic tool for any rescue dog owner wanting to learn more about their furry friend’s genetics!

Easy to use and the results are amazing.

This was my 3rd kit from Wisdom Panel and I could not be more pleased. I had tried another company and it as OK, but what you get in this one's premium kit far surpasses competitors. Not only do they break down related breeds better (ex: American bull terrier and Staffordshire terrier), they also give you a very nice breakdown of the traits in percentages, and tell you summaries of each related breed. This really helped me know which pups I wanted to keep when looking at a recent litter. Health traits are such a helpful feature, too, and now I understand what I should watch for to keep them as healthy as possible. These kits are ideal for dogs that come from a shelter (which mine did) so you at least know what to expect in various behaviors. You can dig into the DNA as deep as you want (which I find fascinating!), so much great data to dig in to. Love this product and highly recommend.

The Wisdom Panel Premium Dog DNA Kit was extremely useful, especially because both of my dogs were adopted from the humane society. When shelters list dogs as “mixed,” it’s usually because they don’t know the animal’s history especially if they were strays so having this kit gave us answers we never would’ve known otherwise. The results were very detailed and easy to understand. We learned the exact breeds in our dogs’ mix, along with more than 265 health screenings and 50+ trait insights. The health information was especially helpful so we could stay ahead of any potential issues. One of the coolest parts was seeing their relatives. If their relatives also used the Wisdom Panel kit, you can actually see matches sometimes even with photos which made the experience even more meaningful. It felt like discovering a whole little family tree for our pups. Overall, this kit gave us clarity, peace of mind, and a deeper connection to our rescue dogs. Highly recommend for anyone with a shelter or mixed-breed dog!

Found out where our dog came from and confirm her breed. Also discovered some genetic predisposition for a particular condition that will sure be watching out for. Super easy to use and quick turn around.

I purchased the "Premium" version for my elderly companion. First things first: The swabs are "bristle" style with needle-sharp pointed wire tips; this makes collection difficult and unnecessarily painful for dogs with small mouths. The wire ending kept poking my guy in the gums, no matter how careful or gentle I tried to be. REALLY wish they would use a soft-ended swab-style collector for these kits. That said, WP delivered on its promise to reveal my stray-to-rescue BFF's breed makeup. Results were surprising, and really fun to learn about. Sadly, we did not discover any close relatives. It would have been fun if we had, though! In our case, we didn't learn about any possible medication sensitivities or genetic disease predispositions, as my dog's test says he has none. I bought this test for a senior (appx 14 yrs) dog who has already displayed significant BP medication sensitivities and diagnosed with late Stg 2 kidney disease. These are not necessarily genetic disorders, given his age — at this point, I was just hoping to find an explanation, because he's otherwise in such incredibly good health. In short, I was looking for a "reason" for why my dog is sick now, and somewhere to channel my blame and grief. Turns out, sometimes dogs just get old and sick, and that has nothing to do with genetics. So I didn't get what I set out for with this test, but in a way it has been both interesting and emotionally challenging + healing to have this data. Despite the fact that there is no indication of (genetic!) medication sensitivity or predisposition for disease on this test, I still wish I had done this sooner, and I plan to get an advanced Wisdom Panel done on every dog I ever have from now on—and early! We can't make our dogs immortal (no matter how much we wish we could), and we can't predict the future. But the genetics factor is an important one, and it's one more tool we can stash in our toolkit to understand how best to care for our canine loved ones.

We had never done a DNA test on a pet before. A friend of mine said she uses Wisdom Panel with all her pets. We ordered one and sent it in, and the turnaround time is about two weeks in total. We will use them again when and if we get another dog.

when we got our dog they said he was a lab/pitbull mix, however he looked nothing like either one. They didn't even know for sure who the father was but figured the black lab running around the neighborhood. The other siblings did look like black labs. When I saw the mom dog I knew that it was not a pitbull. The owner then confided that they were told it was a bulldog but as it grew older it didn't look like a bulldog but more like a pitbull mix. Turns out the dad was german sheppard/lab mix and the mom was indeed 1/2 bulldog/collie mix. Our dog does look more like a sheppard which all makes sense. I believe the dna was pretty darn accurate. I love that you can see other dogs related to ours

UU. corre por cuenta de ustedes, y no es fácil debido a las restricciones aduanales que existen para enviar tejidos orgánicos y muestras animales. El equipo de Wisdom Panel manda el kit ya con sellos postales y correctamente etiquetado, pero solo para envíos dentro de los Estados Unidos. Habiendo aclarado eso, si logras hacer llegar la muestra al laboratorio en California, el servicio que ellos proporcionan es de primer nivel: muy exacto en cuanto a la herencia genética de tu perrito. Además, tienen un gran servicio al cliente que en todo momento me estuvo atendiendo y ayudando en lo que podían para que yo pudiera hacerles llegar la muestra de mi niño. El servicio premium, que fue el que compré, incluye un test de enfermedades genéticas que te muestra si tu mascota padece, va a padecer o tiene propensión a alguna enfermedad heredada. Creo que revisan más de 200. Mi familia y yo estamos muy contentos con los resultados; ahora ya sabemos cuál es la ascendencia de mi perrito y podemos entender mejor sus comportamientos y cómo podemos darle el mejor cuidado posible.
