Great for the value. Very easy to install.
Easy installation. Very well worth the money. It does everything exactly what was supposed to do. It reduces the bow of the boat getting a faster response time to plane on top speed, does get a noticeable difference of greater gas consumption reduced to a fuel increase- leading to fewer gas trips. The biggest difference between having this versus not having it is how much more smoothly the ride is on top speed, with very little usage of the trim in addition to the planning. To install it takes less than an hour. Very easy to install yourself. Take it out of the box and place it where it should be, make sure measure twice to drill once. Drill the holes with the fins on it, as it has pre-drilled holes to guide it. Place the nuts and bolts on, tighten it snug, but not to over tighten it. Depends on the make and model lower unit to install it really doesn't take long to get it done. I had to remove the prop on my 140 HP I/O. Looks great and does an amazing job for my boat. Great for water tubers and skier's that appreciate it for a faster out of the hole experience. I highly recommend it. Worth every single penny, does pay for itself.

Excellent overall improvement
Installed in about an hour. I took my time doing measurements and making sure I had it right. Took it to the lake the next day. I have a 2016 Tracker TF with 60 hp Mercury 4 stroke. Amazing difference. Boat is on plane much faster now. Actually can increase rpms to get speed up, which i could never do before because boat would porpoise before I could be max capability out of it. Now it planes fast, trims out easily allowing motor rpm increase and resulted in approx 2-3 mph speed increase. This is a cheap performance increase that really does help. Highly recommend this, or any hydrofoil device.

Works great on my 14' boat with a 15hp Mercury!
Works amazingly well on my aluminum fishing boat! I noticed it immediately when I twisted the throttle. It planes at a much lower speed, allowing the boat to get out of the hole when loaded with people and gear. It also seems much more stable when passing over wakes. True 15 minute install on my 1999 Mercury 15hp outboard. Great product at a great price!

Pro and possible con !!!
Have a 11 foot Boston Whaler with a 20 hp outboard, with one person, obviously in the back of the boat, it had a very hard time getting plane. I had to lean forward and it took forever. Added the whale tail and problem fixed !!! Got on plane real easy, this product works. But the down side I had , at full throttle my motor stopped pumping water to cool the engine. I slowed down to idle speed and then the water started pumping again. I installed a new water pump and impeller last month. Took it off , problem went away. This maybe be a rare case because I never heard anyone having this problem. We sold the 2 stroke and we are having a brand new 20hp mercury installed. I ordered another tail to install as soon as I get my boat back. I’m hoping the problem was just with old motor. But these tails really work to get your on plane very fast !!

Great stabalizer and very happy with purchase
Works like a charm, we have a west marine inflatable dinghy with metal bottom and 15hp Honda outboard motor. We used to have to go 2 to three minutes at high speed and the bow in the air before coming on plane and leveling out for a smooth ride. Now we take off and the bow stays down and we never have to worry about waves and gunning the engine to get on plane. I love it and will buy another one when the old one wears out, it is a mush if you do like being on plane and not having to see the sky for two minutes and making a large wake trying to get on plane. I think I lost a knot or two because of the stabalizers but it is a good compromise.

Huge improvement on the hole-shot & getting up on plane. Extremely durable too.
This is my third set of Davis Instruments Doel-Fin on separate boats. Very noticeable improvement , the boats get up on plane almost immediately. Excellent hole-shot if you are a slalom skier. And I have found this brand to be bullet proof in durability. On our runabout I have had a set of these on for over 20 year. We have been through a few props in that time, but the Doel-Fin looks like new. Definitely worth installing a set on yours. You will need to drill 1/4"(approx.) holes in the dorsal fin of your motor, but you will never take the Doel-Fin off anyway.

Just enough. You’ll be glad you did.
Bolts on easy. Durable Stupid cheap Fit my alpha 1 Gen 2 but had to use. 90* drill attachment to get in there. I tried a Larger xr3 that had great ratings but was too aggressive for my 4.3lx 20’ cc. Just robbed too much top end and made engine work harder due to drag. I tried this do to smaller size and reputation. It was worth drilling. And if they ever broke, I know the company is around for an exact replacement. Helps w/ faster planning Helps low speed steering, reduced wander. Didn’t rob speed. Keeps the boat flatter in the rough chop Keeps The bow down a lot but didn’t lose as much trim as other/larger foil. The perfect size to make a difference without being overkill.

This makes such a huge difference to boat performance, easy to install, it keeps the nose down and the boat planes really well at lower speeds it also stabilises the boat at speed

I bought these but I havent bolted them on still because I dont want to wreck my cavitation plate with drill holes in case it depreciates the value of my donk and the next buyer may not want that, crazy I know. why buy it then? dont know. I might do it still in summer or just sell it with the boat when I get bored with it.

These fins are the best invention for marine engines! They should just be standard on them all. We have a set on the inboard in our bowrider and bought this set for the 25HP Mercury outboard and they are great. I recommend getting a set to everyone and many friends have purchased these on my recommendation and all have been pleased with the change in performance.
