Once it's set up, it's brilliant
I wanted to write a helpful review that will answer some of the questions I had before ordering, and give possible customers a few tips that I've learnt! So here goes. I've referred to cats throughout though apparently this feeder is also suitable for small dogs.1) Portion size. There are two dispensers included which you need a screwdriver to change over - the feeder comes with the larger dispenser attached. It indicates that the larger dispenser holds 10g per segment, and the smaller holds 5g. This is not the case - it'll be completely dependent on the food you use so you will need to set it up and then use the 'manual' function to release a whole segment (see point 2 for this) and then weigh the amount of food that comes out. We use two different foods for our two cats, one of them dispenses in 15 gram portions and the other 11. So be prepared to have the scales ready.2) First dispense. The first time the feeder dispenses food, it will probably not dispense the usual amount that will typically be released per segment. This is because the biscuits won't have filled up the segment yet. I'd recommend releasing a few segments manually before you weigh the biscuits, and also before you start using it for your cat.3) Size and mains lead. The feeder is pretty large - dimensions are on the description - and I didn't find there was much length on the mains cable. We have had to put the feeders pretty near plug sockets. You could easily buy a larger lead though as it's just your standard USB cable (also comes with a mains plug which is useful).4) Setting up. Because we needed to clean the feeder, change the dispenser size (we then changed it back), weigh the portions, do a few manual releases, and then complete the meal sizes, times, and recordings for two machines, it took us an hour I would say. Don't expect to just pour the food in and go!5) Training your cat. Another reason why it's good to get this well in advance of leaving your cat(s) is that it's taken a few days for our two to get used to it. This is partly because one of ours is a total idiot, but also because if you have more than one cat it can be confusing for them when multiple feeders are going off at once. I recommend using a different person to do the recording for each cat if you have a multi-pet household.6) Capacity. The food chamber holds so much food that I honestly don't think we'll need to fill it up for another month, which is great! We use the maximum setting of 4 meals daily.7) Accessibility. The food chamber lid is very secure - one of mine (the clever one) has spent nearly a week trying to get into it (AND trying to dig food out of the bottom) and she's having no luck. It takes me two hands to open the chamber lid, so I'm pretty certain she won't manage to get into it at all. I also don't think a cat could knock this over, though a larger dog could, so be aware of that.8) Cleaning. You can easily clean the food tray, but the main food chamber is a little more complicated as you'll ideally want to remove the food dispenser with a screwdriver before cleaning, or be prepared to leave to drain for a few hours (it's hard to get the segments of the dispenser dry). So it's not the easiest to clean, but as it's for dry food I won't bother too often.9) Batteries. The feeder takes 3 D batteries which are easy to pop in, and as mentioned it also has a mains cable. This is a brilliant feature as if there's a power cut when we're away, or if I need to unplug and move the machine, I don't need to worry about losing the set up or the cats not getting fed. I'd suggest getting batteries before set up so that you'll keep the settings should you decide to move it to a different part of the house (once unplugged you have to set it all up again if there are no batteries).10) Overall I think this machine is excellent for the price. It's very well designed and feels high quality. It's quiet, the cats aren't scared of it, and I trust it completely. Very pleased with the purchase and fully recommend it.

Not for Smart Cats!
I received this auto feeder almost a week ago, I bought it so that while I was out for the day or at work my cat would be fed... probably an obvious statement. Initially I was very impressed, nice design, excellent reviews and good amount of storage etc. I cannot necessarily fault the product. All was going well until today however! My cat was starved before I got her a year ago, so I was cautious of such a product... I honestly didn’t think she could get into it! The buttons weren’t accessible and the exit point for the food seemed very difficult to reach/actually obtain food from. Then today she managed it (I assume she has before while I was out)...I heard the drop of the food 4hrs before the next feed...uh oh. Yup, she had figured it out. From looking at it I think she was getting her paw in where it dispenses food and grabbing some out. Doesn’t seem like she could’ve moved the wheel, just able to pull some out.She is now annoyed at me for taking it away! Obviously!Anyways, I’m doubtful I can get my money back (I will ask when I have time) but I just wanted to let people know that if you have a VERY smart cat, do NOT buy this.Absolutely no intention Bad naming the manufacturer just some cat owners may need to know that it isn’t cat proof (at all).Just some advice from my experience. Thank you hope this helps. 🐱

Thank you!
I don’t usually give reviews but I with this I cannot miss. It’s a great feeder and does exactly what is described, it’s a great product so you can monitor whatever you pet is eating at ease, I would highly recommend it without a second though. At first, I couldn’t be without it, due to ongoing issues suddenly my cat’s health took a turn for the worse and is diabetic which requires me now to self-medicate each of her meals. So unfortunately, as I cannot use it anymore for this reason, I had to return this product. I cannot praise the seller enough! They took this back with no hesitation and have shown me such generosity and compassion like I’ve never experienced before. This world has some very kind people in it and its people like this that go above and beyond for their customers that really shine a light in this worldI cannot thank you enough Kary.

EASY TO USE AND CAT FRIENDLY
The dispenser arrived with an alternative feeder mechanism for smaller feeds; it is probable that my cat is a 'guts' because one meal output of the larger feeder is nowhere near enough. However, the very easy setting allows multiples to be dispensed sequentially and I set the feeder to four lots at a time and this seems to satisfy my greedy cat. The Hopper holds a large amount of dried food (that our family colloquially call 'mouse droppings') such that even with my gluttonous cat there is enough for at least two weeks at four meals a day. The instruction leaflet is quite easy to understand but the feeder is even easier to set up once the overall principle is understood. I particularly like the option to record a voice that in my case I set up and recorded the bell that I use to call my cat to eat; not only, is the reproduction faithful but it actually enhances the sound so that my cat responds in microseconds. I note that some reviewers have issues with stability but I've not found this - perhaps they didn't increase the output to satisfy their cats as, I'm sure, if he wanted to my cat could push the item over but, so far, it's sufficiently sturdy to resist any normal knocks - including being accidentally displaced during a chase after a mouse that my cat likes to supplement his diet with.
