Perfect size and functionality
This is a timeless work of art. I have several Buck knives. This one, is the perfect balance of size and functionality. I also got the cross draw sheath offered at purchase which I have not received just yet. I will review that later. This knife came quickly and shaves hair right outta the box. Looks great, feels great! Buck knives hold their edge really really good. I hunt a lot so I rely on good blades for most of my outdoor tasks. Buck always delivers. I have dang near all the Buck family of knives but this is my favorite one so far. Can’t stop playing around with it, getting the feel of it. It’s great! Get one and you will not regret it. Well worth the money.

Buck quality
Nice knife. Super sharp. I have had the Woodsman for 7 years and it is super tough. This is a larger version and also has solid build quality. Made in the USA.

All around outdoors knife, pulverizes any challege it faces! Great knife overall.
Today I'm reviewing the Buck 119, as yall probably know already. The only flaw of this knife comes from a plus; the button clasp on the sheath is hard to open, which is, as i said, good AND bad. The blade is a good steel, fairly resistant to rust in my usage, and features a nice clip-point design. I love the phenolic handle because it shifts the weight forward if i need to chop or do precise work. The handle is pretty chunky too!

Best knife I’ve ever owned.
Very sharp and strong. I shot sparks off it with my ferro rod. Love the handle. I split small logs/wood with it - the full tang held up great. I highly recommend.

BUCK 119 Special Pro
After reviewing descriptions, photos, videos, and write-ups of several MADE IN USA fixed-blade knives, I selected the Buck 119 Special Pro. For my applications it is the right combination of total length, handle length, blade length, blade type, materials, etc. I also value the Micarta handle for its reduced slipperiness. The knife arrived promptly and in good condition. Upon opening I was pleased to see Buck's unusually good packaging. Their box system (overbox, box, interior platform) reminded me of Apple's. To me it says a lot about a company when their packaging is top quality. The knife, itself, arrived in perfect condition. Since I already have two "museum quality" knives that just sit in a drawer, I have vowed to really put this 119 to use in my forest - my intended application. So, I don't have any qualms about getting this knife messy. It is clearly up to the challenge. The hard and sharp 90 degree edges on the back of the blade are perfect for use with a ferro rod. The hilt is large enough to reduce the chance of any accidental cuts. And, it is asymetrical, enabling fine cutting work such as making feather sticks. The grip fits my hand nicely. The weight and balance suit me just fine. The blade alloy is excellent for my intended purposes. The thru-handle tang is what I need for my rough treatment. When it comes to knives, there is no such thing as the one perfect item. This 119 is now my largest knife and is great for the rugged, coarse work I do while maintaining my forest. It is an excellent compliment to my Leatherman multitool blade and my in-pocket Victorinox Classic. Buck offers a range (sizes, functions, etc.) of knives for this exact reason. I am 100% confident that this MADE IN AMERICA knife will do everything I ask of it for as long as I live.

You will love it
Beautiful piece of work , The fit, the finish. Nice size and a good weight. Feels good in my xl hand. Kind of a nostalgia feel and looks, unlike all this newer “tactical” looking stuff. I love it, Next up for the collection is the 120 , already have the 105. Which by the way is also a super piece of gear. Thanks BUCK for making a fantastic product, at a reasonable price in America 👍

A Quality Knife at a Modest Price
This is a well made, quality knife. I like it's look and the fit and finish are excellent as is the leather sheath. When comparing the 119 with the Buck model 124 Frontiersman which I purchased a few months ago, the 124 has a full width tang which can be seen through the guard and sandwiched between the micarta handle slabs and the pommel making for a heavier more robust feel. From the way it appears the 119 has a "rat tail" tang through the guard, the Phenolic handle and into the pommel where it is riveted. A "rat tail" tang is narrower than the full width tang and tapers to perhaps 1/2" wide in the pommel. I can understand why knife makers need to sell good knives at competitive prices like the 119, but many of us would sure be willing to pay for a Buck knife the size of the 119 with the full width tang and micarta handle. As it is though, the 119 is a handy size with its 6" blade and shorter and narrower handle. For most people and uses the 119 will be a great companion in the woods, in camp or on the trail. Update: I've had this knife for nearly 3 years but find I haven't used it. In thinking about it, I've come to the conclusion it's the handle. The Phenolic handle material is simply too slick to be useful with my bare hands. If I were wearing a leather glove it wold be ok, but in the desert I don't wear gloves. I've cut groves in the handle material of other knives I own, but that's like a last resort. My partial solution has been to sand the surface of the grips with a 60 grit sand paper. I covered the pommel and the hilt/crossguard with masking tape and thoroughly sanded the surface of the grip. I can't say it is significantly less slick, but it does feel better plus it looks much more like a field knife.

Impressive Hunting Knife! Made in U.S.A.!
Super high quality hunting knife from Buck! At first I thought this is going to be too big from the measurements on the description but when I received it, it was just right! I don't think you can get a better quality hunting knife at this price range. Excellent quality, weight and handling and it comes super sharp out of the box. It passed my paper slicing test with flying colors! And just when you think it can't get any better? It is MADE IN THE U.S.A. and it comes with Buck's forever warranty! The only knives I own are all U.S.A. made and the only imported knife I own and would consider are knives made in Japan. I don't waste my time and money with Chinese or Taiwanese made crap and I don't care what brand they are! Sometimes it's hard for me to shop for knives online not knowing where they are made. I have to do a little research about a particular knife I'm interested in before I make a purchase. It has to be made in the USA or Japan, otherwise it's not worth considering. That's just my personal preference. I've always wanted a Buck 119 Special and the time has come. This hunting knife is a keeper for life. The leather sheath is made in Mexico but appears to be saddle quality leather and seems very tough. It holds the knife securely while carrying it on my belt. I always carry a knife or two ( 3 actually ) when I ride my Harley and this would be a great carry on those long ride camping trips on the summer time. Overall, I was very impressed with this Buck 119 Special hunting knife and is literally more knife for your Buck! I own a couple of Buck knives but never a 119 Special and I'm glad I finally did! You can't go wrong with this hunting knife. Price, quality and timeless design, there is no better knife out there. Now that's a KNIFE!
