Short but Sweet
My 5-yr old is obsessed with owls, and we are making it the primary unit in our homeschooling this year. This book, while short enough to be closer to a pamphlet, is a great intro to the subject. In addition to learning interesting facts about owls, we practiced recognizing sight words. After reading this book (several times), we watched some YouTube videos that reiterated the basic points we had already learned in the book.I want to move on to a book more suited for older kids next, since there are only so many times a grown-up can read the same 30 pages. My kid disagrees. This book has a treasured spot in the one drawer in our living room.

Great book but a big level jump between pre-reader and level 1
Let me say there is a HUGE jump in the expected reading skill between Nat Geo’s Pre-Reader level and level 1. My beginning reader doesn’t have the patience to conquer this book yet, but she can chug through several of the pre-reader level. But I love this series. Great animal facts, great pictures, lots of learning.

Wonderful book for owl lovers
This is part of a Christmas gift for my son. He loves owls! This book has colorful, up close pictures of beautiful owls. Anyone that likes owls would love this book. Good value also.

Doesn’t mention pellets
This is a good book but I really wish it mentioned anything at all about owl pellets. I bought it with our pallets as part of a lesson and it didn’t even mention them once...

Rich in content and a great read
I bought a few books about owls for my three years old son. Originally, he wasn’t into it but lately after a month of reading, he started to fall in love with it! I am so glad I bought it for him. The content is rich and the colorful pages attract him to keep on reading. I will definitely look for some other ones for him to keep up reading.

Learn About Owls
My 22 month old has been fascinated by owls for the past 4 months. This book was perfect to teach her more about owls and animals in general. It has been easy to slowly work our way up- at first I just had her find and point to the owls to now we actually read the book and talk about owl facts. It is very basic compared to the other books in series 1. I have had to up my animal game since having a child and these books have been essential to brushing up on animal facts...and learning some I never knew! I have since ordered 6 more and some are better than others but my daughter has loved them all.

Great book
My 4 year old said he likes dinosaurs but he liked learning about the sharp beak that tears meat so the owl can eat it. He liked learning all the facts.

Impressed the teacher
My daughter was learning about owls in school so was looking a book with facts (probably to bring in and show off) She loved the book, easy for a 6 year old to read unaided and lots of lovely photos. The teacher was so impressed she's looking to get some for the class.

Highly recommended for quality of content
I accidentally ordered 2 copies of this book. However, after a quick glance through I decided to keep one copy here for my grandson and one at his own home. He has been fascinated with owls since first hearing the Gruffalo story, and favourite Peter Rabbit tales are the ones that include Old Brown the owl.
