This book is great to GET TOU STARTED but it does not tell you everything, what I did was go on the CTC website and see what topics were going to be on the exam and then used the book to help me ! Add information! I thought the book would tell you everything but it did not

This book puts all the most information in. It is very helpful. I have passed 1 section of the cset so far and have 2 more to go.

Unfortunately this is the only study book on the market for the CSET in Health Science. The information is laid out pretty well and it gives a good overview, but it leaves out key information. It is not up-to-date, despite being printed in 2015-2016. For example, it does not mention the eight components of a comprehensive school health program (CHSP), despite the fact that it is in the sample questions given by the CTC on the exam website. Another example is that it goes over the USDA food guide pyramid, but the USDA has been using the MyPlate guidelines in its place since around 2011. I just took Health Science Subtest 1, and I have yet to get my scores back. I previously took the CSET in Physical Education after using a study book from a different publisher and I passed all subtests on the first shot. However, if this book had been my only exposure to the content, I would not feel confident about passing. This book is your only option, but definitely do your research into what is actually on the test.

My impression and experience so far in using the CSET Health Science Exam is that the information is presented in a very readable manner. I like how the categories are in little blocks of information. It makes it easy to read a few paragraphs in one sitting, when you only have little bits of time to study.

This is one of the only valid and reliable resources available for the CSET in Health Science. It will do the job to get me through all 3 sub tests!!

Your Study Guide gave me good, solid information that I needed to know and memorize for my test, that I couldn't find anywhere else--online or off.Also, your tips on test taking were excellent.

I'm already a teacher, and I should have known from the start that this guide was not helpful, so I blame myself. Don't waste your money on this study guide. I bought it (and I wasted another chunk of change on the flashcards), and started studying. It is not organized in a manner conducive to learning AT ALL; very fragmented and disjointed in terms of subject matter sequence. This booklet didn't even MENTION the components of a Coordinated School Health Program, which is critical knowledge. Many other areas heavily privileged in the actual test, such as disease processes, history of communicable disease, specific stages of human growth and the human body, were either slighted or not mentioned at all in the guide. And it isn't at all specific to California...it doesn't even discuss the California Healthy Kids Survey, which is a huge component of Health Education in California.After several weeks, I finally realized that what I needed to do was download the California State published subtest descriptions, and from there, use the internet to do my research (and make my own flashcards). The CDC (Center for Disease Control) was my friend. Fortunately, I managed to salvage my study process with barely enough time to get some substantive learning done, and I feel confident I passed all three subset tests.
