The new redesign makes these ineffective in the Pagoda. Are there after-market filter recommendations?

This filter works just fine in the Pagoda & similar fountains. The redesign was to accommodate those people who were failing to change their filters frequently, the filter would clog and the pump would be unable to push water past it, the redesign allows water past if the filter is clogged.

Are these original filters sold by the petsafe company?

Why is the water slimy while using these? What has changed from the original product as it didn’t previously create slime

Unsure what the problem with these filters are; whenever the porcelain on the fountain starts to feel slimy (I've never had slimy water.... it's hard to wrap my mind around how water could be truly slimy), it's time to change the filter, take the entire fountain apart, and scrub everything except the pump in very warm soapy water. One piece of equipment that helps to thoroughly clean the fountain parts in the very warm soapy water is either a baby bottle brush you can get at your local big box store, or PetSafe (same company that sells the pet fountains) sells a set of 3 brushes that are specifically designed to clean their fountains. The bristles fit perfectly into all the nooks and crannies to scrub away any sliminess. Also, if your fountain has one of the white filters that goes around the pump, rinse that out (no soap) each time and change it anytime it's hard to clean out all the pet fur or specks of dirt. In the winter (I live in a place where it gets really cold in the winter), I likely need to clean the fountain and change the filters about once per month. In summer, when the weather (and our house) tends to be much warmer, I likely have to scrub the fountain and change the filter every 2-3 weeks. It's such a great product and wonderful for your pet(s) to have fresh moving water to drink, I hope it all works out for you!
