Simplicity, Form, and Function
My review is not original... If you do a regular web search for "wood is good review", you'll find a number of professional, well respected, and venerated authorities that unanimously agree. I cannot possibly add to the glowing respect and support for this company and it's mallets. I've seen this product line touted for it being the solution for elbow problems, a fantastic protection for expensive or brittle tool handles, and the best idea for an apartment woodworker wanting to be respectful and chop morises in the quietest manner. The list goes on and on. All of the mallets have a lifetime guarantee and a performance record that is worth every penny of the investment. I in no way benefit from the praise I've written here. This simple tool is so amazing it necessitates the little time it took to write this.

The Best Mallet Hands Down
The 30 ounce Wood is Good mallet is a must for larger chisels. The balance, ergonomics, materials and craftsmanship all scream a tool that is made to use and last. It is so encouraging to see companies like Wood is Good that produce this level of tool here in the USA. This mallet may cost slightly more upfront but pays dividends in how well it preforms and lasts compared to the rest.I use the 30 ounce primarily with 2", 2.5" and large corner chisels for timber framing projects. I find it the perfect balance of weight and force for these size chisels.

Quality product
It's just a quality product. Could probably use a stain/finish on the handle and some ultra fine sanding but it's one of the better ones on the market.

Nice solid mallet
This is a nice, solid mallet with some heft to it. It did not seem too heavy to me even after using it for a full day. It will deliver a solid blow without damaging the chisel butt. The plastic head dissipates the shock of the blow relieving the stress on your hand and arm.I have not used it for many fine tasks, but I have used it for some lighter chiseling and it worked fine. I used it to chisel mortises through a 10" walnut log and it worked better than my beech-wood mallet. The head shows some signs of use but is not damaged in any way. I expect to get a lot of use from this tool and will likely purchase one of the lighter models for smaller and more detailed work.

Mighty fine mallet
Bought it to use with a froe. Should work well -- nice heft in the 30oz version. Well-made, nice finish, nice polymer head.

Completely indestructable
I've had this a couple of years and I've tried my hardest to damage it, break it, hit stuff I shouldn't with it and it just laughs and carries on. this thing is wonderful. Not as accurate as a brass headed mallet for fine work, but if you are doing timber framing and need to get a tennon seated, it will do that well. It is always in my tool bag and the lead shot really helps give it some heft. Just don't hit your hand with it, ask me how I know...

Be careful — it’s not too heavy but it’s quite dense.
Great mallet - just be careful while performing persuasive blows. Without paying a lot of attention, I did a pretty good number on the corners of a workbench leg fitting the mortise and tenon. It’s heavy... don’t be fooled by its light weight. I know that sounds contradictory — what I mean is it’s not too heavy to swing, but the urethane is hard enough to crush fibers and break sharp edges.I’ve found it to be an outstanding mallet for a mortise chisel!

Good heft and well made
Heft for using with a froe is perfect. Used to split hickory with a Gransfor Bruck froe, and was more than up to the task with the weight. Construction is heavy duty and well made. Will but smaller ones for chisel work.

Quality Mallet
Worth spending that little extra. I bought a cheaper one and the handle broke within a month. These are quality, I now have 2 without any issues

Mallet is great, I liked making my own wooden mallets but ...
Mallet is great, I liked making my own wooden mallets but they wouldn't stand up to the constant timber mortising. It is also less fatiguing than a wooden mallet.
