Great book tons of information, lots of load data , easy to find loads good value

Lyman's book is necessary information, as always.

Got this book as finding steel shot in south Florida is near impossible and if I can find it, it's 3x the price of Massachusetts. Very informative as it has history, information on what company makes what type of shells, and a ton of loading data for 10, 12, 16, 20, 28, and .410 bore. Full color pictures of the hulls, list of powders, non toxic shot, slug and buckshot. Does not have any info for brass hulls. It is a valuable asset for the loading bench for pro's and first timers.

This a good book. I especially like the insiders tips and techniques on two of the MEC loaders, 600 Jr Mk. 5 and the 9000N. So if you have a MEC loader, its worth the the buy. There is a lot of good shot shell data, and ballistics comparison and research regarding primers and wads. And of course plenty of recipes in the back of the book. This is where I think the internet has done this book in. Many of the recipe shot data can be found online at either the powder manufactures website or the wad makers etc... showing FPS and PSI with various combination of grains, primers, wads and shot shells. Many powder manufactures, like Alliant or Hodgdon have phone numbers you can call if you have questions, and both have pretty good customer service. So if you want to save money, much of the data is available for free on the internet. But if you want a hard copy reference with reliable shell / powder combinations, than this is a great buy.

The essential information provided in this 5th Edition is essential to reloading shotshells with the majority of the information provided in the one particular manual is not mentioned in any of the other shotshell reloading manuals!! Whether you are an amateur or professional you will find yourself referring back to this very manual for verification.. I caution you to please read the introduction and beginning chapters before even looking at any the load data, there is an abundance of essential/critical information in this particular manual that you need to understand for safety reasons.. The only downside is some of the outdated powders, so until they release a much needed/highly requested newer 6th Version I consider this the ALL TIME BEST COMPLETE SHOTSHELL RELOADING MANUAL on the market hands down!! Lots of great info to get you started reloading shotgun shells. Info for 12,20,28,410 loads. Also wades through the powders, primers, and different types of hulls. If you are a metallic reloader it's especially important due to the lack of range in recipes. Load data excepts no substitutions. The more proven loads you have , the more choices available. Lead , steel, bismuth load data available.
