I've used this mini iron a few times now and have mixed feelings about it. On the plus side, it works great as a flat iron. I have fine, slightly wavy hair that's about collarbone length, and this iron will quickly straighten and smooth my hair, leaving it silky and frizz-free. The plates contact my hair very well and don't fry my ends, even though the temperature isn't adjustable. It's also very easy to work close to the scalp without fear of burning yourself. Now for the bad news: This thing is completely ineffective for curling. As other reviewers have stated, the outer barrel does not get nearly as hot as the inner flat iron plates. I left the iron plugged in for a little over 20 minutes, and the outside never did get all that hot. I attempted to curl a few inch-wide sections of my hair with no success whatsoever. The idea that you can wrap even a small section of hair around the barrel for "a few seconds" (as it states in the user guide) and come away with any curl is ludicrous. I held it for almost a full minute, and all I got was irritated. The heatproof travel pouch is a nice bonus, but I found the half-glove accessory to be odd and very awkward to use. I mean, would it have killed them to just include a full glove? Not that it matters much, because you only really need the glove for curling - and this thing can't curl to save its life. If you're just straightening your hair, which is all this iron is really good for, you don't need the weird half-glove. I'll keep this for international travel since it's dual voltage and much more compact than my full-size BaByliss flat iron, but sadly it's a no-go as a curler. I almost gave it three stars, but the fact that it really is good as a flat iron, along with the compact size, made me bump it up to four.

This mini iron is not worth even $10 let alone $70. I bought this hoping it was a smaller, more nimble but equally capable of the larger 1 inch Babyliss prima 3000. The prima 3000 is an excellent quality iron but it is quite large for someone with short hair. So I purchased this mini iron. This iron only heats to 420 deg F but it certainly doesn’t feel that way when you are using it. It feels like it is at 325 or something. I have not actually measured the heat to know if it is truly 420 but regardless it is ineffective. To add insult to injury, there is a protruding piece of metal inside of this mini iron that functions as part of the lock mechanism. This protruding piece of metal keeps snagging on my hair with every pass, and affects the ability of the iron to properly and smoothly close for each pass. Overall, the build quality and effectiveness of this iron is highly questionable. Save your money. This mini iron isn’t it.
