Even better than expected, and I expect great deal from Stanley.
I bought one of these for myself , as I like to have a huge cup of tea and I frequently drop things so have broken countless ceramic cups. It's meant for cold drinks and will hold a pint of beer if you wish, and keep it quite cold , but that isn't why I bought it.I knew this was made for cold drinks, not hot, but assumed insulation is insulation, it should work, and being Stanley, I knew it would not fall apart the first time I dropped it ( or the ten thousandth for that matter). I have had other large metal mug/ steins. They have all had the handles break off after being dropped, except one which left me holding the handle as the rest of the mug dropped to the ground splashing the poor dog and I with hot tea. Stanley just does not break. So I did expect this to be a very good cup but even so I was surprised that a cup of tea poured into this was still piping not well over an hour later. If you let its sit a minute with warm water before weeknights tea, you can easily get up to three hours of nice not tea. This means I can fill this up and sit sipping tea for hours.I can't say that I have actually used this as intended...for a nice cold pint. I dislike beer.I have however found it delightful with cold milk. After having a nice tall glass of coke with ice at tea time, on one occasion, I was quite surprised to notice that the cup still had ice the following morning, and I am not an early riser. If you want something especially cold, you can freeze the mug before hand. It is almost too cold. The cup is easy to wash, and I have used a dishwasher. But it also wiped out very easily by hand, even if you have left coffee or tea sitting in it and only have cold water for cleaning up.My only complaint is that this does not have a lid. I can not really fault Stanley for this, and it doesn't claim to have a lid, but I was really hoping a lid from a smaller Stanley cup would fit, but unfortunately it did not. After buying my cup, I my husband wanted one, so I have since purchased a second. I hope to buy a couple more by summer so the whole family can enjoy icy cold drinks.I honestly do not think any other brand compares to this one. The quality is absolutely amazing.

Does the job I wanted.
So I was actually looking for a thermal bottle holder to hold the larger 565ml bottles, but could only find them for standard 330ml bottles.I decided to opt for the Stanley Stein as it would take the full pint without a problem. After trying it out, I was fairly impressed. It did keep the beer cooler for longer. I tried pre-cooling the Stein in the fridge for the second pint which does help a little. My issue though was, there was just a hint of a metallic taste due to the stainless-steel rim. Nowhere near as bad as drinking beer from a can, but noticeable just the same.I was about to use it again a couple of days later. Popped the bottle top off and just about to pour when I thought hang on, this could be what I wanted all along! I slid the bottle into the Stein, and it fits perfectly. And because the bottle is cold and the Stein is thermal, the drink seems to stay cold forever (or until its gone 😉). And no more tinny taste. The bottle goes in right up to the part that narrows, so if your outside, the sun doesn’t warm your beer. All Stanley needs to do now is make one without the handle and a rubber seal on the top and that would be the perfect 1-pint bottle holder.

Pleasant to drink from
My concern with these drinking implements is they will feel yukky to drink from. I'm pleased to report that this is as pleasant to use as a pint glass for cold drinks or a mug for hot drinks. The drink itself doesn't last long enough to truly test it's temperature holding properties, however, the first sip seemed to me as hot or cold as the last. It's a nice solid construction while feeling light in the hand. The 0.7L size is over a pint and just over a large Starbucks coffee mug size. There are certainly cheaper and larger items out there but I am happy with this one. Bought the white version in Black Friday sale for £17.99 as I'd had my eye on it for a while.
