Works for yogurt cheese too
So, it's a slighlty off-label but I got this to make yogurt cheese. This is honestly become a whole thing orlf a thing but, well, I've taken to having yogurt for lunch these days. It's cheap, easy and good for me.Alright. That's cool. Wth does this gotta do with a press?Well, the husband got me an instapot last year so I could make my own yogurt and have you ever actually *made* yogurt?Yeah, the recipes come in 2 sizes: won't-quite-last-a-weekandOMFG-I'm-gonna-drown-in-all-this-before-I-can-eat-it-allSo, we started with the usual substitutions- sour cream, buttermilk, etc. Eventually, all that was left for all the extra was cheese. So, the batches of cheese aren't really big but I do make them a lot and honestly got tired of trying to hunt down cans to weight it down.I settled on this one because the size reduces quite a bit so, I needed something that could scale down just as easily as scale up as well as change the tension as the process continues and this design seemed like it would do the trick.Thankfully, it does.I like the little trays that catch some of the whey. It really does make life easier and, it works sooooo much better than just using weights because I can get a much firmer texture now.Thanks.

I researched presses and this one does the job
I am a long-time vegan, so I eat a lot of firm tofu. I buy tofu on sale and store it so I will always have it on hand. I eat it raw or raw marinated (miso paste is good for that), and never thought of pressing it until I saw a tofu press mentioned offhand. I was intrigued. I researched presses (there are so many types) and even thought about the old-fashioned weight-on-two-plates method. This press is so easy to use, self explanatory and you just easily rinse it off when done. It even comes with a lovely little storage bag I hang on a hook in my kitchen. It is efficient and serves its purpose.

Compact and does exactly what I want it to!
I wanted a tofu press that was sturdy and without a lot of moving parts that could easily break. A lot of others that I was looking at relied on springs or rubber bands or similar to press the tofu, and a lot of reviews mentioned how they would break. This press is great on that front. Very few pieces that are fragile or small or otherwise in danger of breaking constantly.I do have two complaints about it, however, and if I could fix them this would be a 5 star product easy.First: when you wrap your tofu in paper towels or a cloth, there's really no room for the excess of that cloth to go. The green part of this press fits tightly around it, so any towel hanging out the side will get caught on it. It's a hassle.Second: There's nowhere for the liquid to go! The space between the little "mesh" insert and the outside of the press is extremely small. The liquid will leak out. And there's no real way to prop the press up in a bowl or anything where the liquid is easily caught. One of the things that drew me to this press is that it's SMALL. I don't have to waste a bunch of storage space or use a lot of counter space in order to use it. But after setting up contraptions just so I can get the liquid to drain without making a mess? It's a much bigger space than expected. All that said, I don't regret this purchase at all! It works great, it presses nicely and evenly, and I'm pretty happy with it! Once you figure out how to wrap your tea towel properly it only kinda gets in the way. And yeah propping it over a bowl kinda sucks, but it could be worse. I recommend this press for sure! Just be realistic with your expectations. Good luck!

Great kitchen gadget gift
My brother-in-law loves cooking but was using cutting boards to press his tofu for crispy tofu recipe. Not exactly an efficient not easy approach. So I bought this for him. It's easy to use and clean. It squeezes excess water out of tofu blocks for that perfect spongy texture you want for crispy tofu or pan fried tofu in Pad Thai.

No complaints. Cheaper than the other options.
These are relatively simple devices so it'd be pretty bad if one didn't work. This was about a third cheaper than most the competition when I got it so not only was I happy with that, I'm happy with the product. The two halves don't go completely together so some people might not be completely happy with the compression they are able to achieve, however, it's leaps and bounds better than what I was doing before so I again have no complaints. Easy to use and accomplishes what I wanted.

Broke after maybe 10 uses
It works great, but mine broke after maybe 10 uses, the green plastic that goes around the tofu trays cracked and is no longer usable

Poorly designed item
I dislike a couple of major things: once you press a tofu block from Wholefoods it gets squished and it's sides are expanding over the edge of the contraption. The green plastic "belt" with the screw in it will not sit flat on a surface once the whole thing is assembled because it has a portruding ridge throughout its diameter. You will need to use an extra dish or something to place underneath to catch the liquid dripping from the sides.

Cut your press time down to 20 minutes, Easy to Use and Easy to Clean!
This is a great press. I like this one MUCH MORE than the bamboo press one we had. It cuts our press time down to around 20 minutes. It gets a good amount of the water out and its pretty sturdy to where you can just sit it on the counter. The only CON i would say is that if you like to tighten the press like we do then the tofu looses its form a bit. That's common with every press we've tried but i included 2 pic so you can see the sides if the tofu. I would def recommend.
