poorly made, unstable
due to poor manufacturing these brackets create a railing that wobbles side to side and is extremely unerving to use. I do not recommend these to anyone who wants a safe stable railing for safety purposes !!!

Am enjoying this purchase. One word of information: if your handrail is long and not attached at wall by a return, the rail will have some play.

Touch of class, but unstable hinge
Easy to install, nice weight and design but after the handrail is attached the hinges wobble so badly creative modifications are needed for safety. We used epoxy - the rails will never move now!

I am a licensed contractor who came across these brackets and recommended them to a client who wanted something like this
CONTRACTOR'S OPINION...I am a licensed contractor who came across these brackets and recommended them to a client who wanted something like this. Although they are pretty sharp looking (thus the 2 stars) looks alone are not my only concern they must be functional. The purpose of a handrail on a run of stairs is stability and these brackets are not stable. A safe handrail must not have any movement. The hinged part of the bracket which is secured to the underside of the handrail has way to much side to side movement (in the direction between the wall and the handrail). This is a design flaw. In order to keep my client happy and create a stable railing I had to purchase additional brackets and install them (another $20). The scroll wrought iron body of the bracket is not welded to the plate that is fastened to the wall instead it is screwed on from the back and to tighten them up ( I had to tighten all of them) one risks over-tightening the low grade metal screws and stripping it thus making it wobbly down the road. Buyer beware, there really isn't any way to tell how these are designed from the pictures.
