Almost Perfect - and That's Good Enough
This light has some great plusses. Its few minuses, noted by other reviewers, don't even add up to one less star for me. The plusses: Lightweight enough - 2.9 oz. with batteries - that it doesn't unbalance my Kindle 3G even in one hand, or weigh down my travel bag. Bright enough for my aging vision. Even though the lights are close together, they illuminate the screen evenly enough for my fussy eyes. Can be pointed away from my spouse. Though I haven't used up any batteries, the measured drain of 26 ma on low or 50 ma on high should give roughly 15 hours of use on high, twice that on low. The minuses: The clamp isn't shaped to snug up to the tapered back of the Kindle 3G. This means you can make it teeter if you try. But I don't notice any problem in actual use. Glare spot: If the head is placed over the screen, then yes, there will be glare. It's necessary to place it off to one side, and then it's fine. The illumination is still fairly even, and this position allows for directing the light away from a sleeping spouse. Some people have complained about the light being too bright. Personally, I find the dim setting just a bit dim, and the high setting just right. YMMV. As a bonus, if the clamp is pulled apart it can be carefully slid onto a half inch wad of paperback pages, for those of us who still have the old-fashioned kind of books, the ones you can keep and give to a friend after you've read them. There's no glare problem on paper, so the light can be positioned to evenly illuminate even those larger paperbacks they upsize in order to charge a few extra bucks. Bottom line: I'm a happy puppy.

Excellent light for eReader or Laptop
After owning the Mighty Bright LED light, the Verso Clip On light, and now the Belkin Clip On light, I can safely say that this light is the BEST of the bunch. While the 3 AAA batteries tend to be heavier than the slimmer CR2032 found in the Verso, Belkin has designed this light with them out of the way. I am using this light now to type this review in a dark room and the entire keyboard plus 8" to the sides are well lit. And this is on the low setting. Switching to the high setting the light is TREMENDOUS. White, bright, and no flicker whatsoever. As it uses AAA batteries, I expect the light to work for quite a while between battery replacement. I am glad I finally found a light that is exactly what I wanted. The clip on mechanism is well designed. It accepts a wide range of eReaders as it is expandable. There is also an attachment which I believe is for the Kindle 3. Haven't read the instructions yet). Yes, I am a guy and we do those things. Buy this light. You will not be disappointed. The three (3) LED's throw off bright, white light. I'll probably buy another one, maybe two, to have around the house. It works great on my Macbook and my Sony PRS-950. PS. If you want my Verso, let me know. UPDATE: I put new batteries in the Verso (CR2032) and switched between the two lights. The Verso light has already dimmed, while the Belkin is still going strong (on the high setting I may add). Nothing wrong with the Verso. Just that the flat CR2032 batteries don't hold much juice. But they are cheap on Amazon, so I will use it to light up my laptop keyboard.

Wonderful light, but not for K3 without a cover
The light is excellent, bright and uniform, and the gooseneck easily adjusts. However, the provided clip adapter for the Kindle 3 is a near miss; it fits poorly, and the clip covers the rubber surfaces that would otherwise provide traction. The result is a loose and unstable fit that easily falls off and/or requires constant fiddling and repositioning. I imagine this would work better over a Kindle cover, without the clip; I do not use use a cover and so cannot comment on that. Note however that the clip installs with an adhesive, so switching back and forth is not a realistic option. I have returned this item -- as always, Amazon returns are effortless -- and ordered the "Verso Clip-On Reading Light for Kindle", which I expect will be a better choice for me. Works very well with Kindle keyboard model
I have the keyboard version of the kindle and it is in a leather cover. The light clamp just barely fits over the kindle and both flaps of the cover (I fold the front around the back to read). I don't use the adapter that you'd need for just the kindle, but I like to see that they included it. The light fits tightly and I can move the light head without disturbing the clamp at all. I put the light down beside the page buttons, and it will reach almost to the bottom of the reading area if you want. I've only used the lower setting and it is PLENTY of light to read. I wish there was a lower setting that only used 2 of the LEDs or something because it puts out a lot of light. I can't imagine ever needing the higher setting. I like the way the light head stores on the clamp, it's stiff enough to hang by the little loop it creates and I loop that over the elastic band on the cover so it stays with the kindle. No idea about battery life, but it's made it for at least 10 hours or so to this point. With three AAA batteries powering three tiny LEDs I think battery life will be excellent. I had one concern that the battery box would be too big and in the way, but I haven't found the size or the weight to be at all noticeable when reading. If it had one more setting with lower output, it would be perfect in my opinion.

Collected Another Kindle Light!
Edit on July 10, 2010: I have added a very short video comparing a few of my reading lights, but please understand I am not a videographer, so it really isn't that good. But I hope it helps someone though. I still use the Belkin light the most and no longer look for any other reading lights for my Kindle - it broke my addiction! :) Original Review: I admit to collecting reading lights for my Kindle (you can see my review of others here: Mighty Bright MiniFlex Book Light, Black ), so it wasn't surprising when I ordered this one after seeing it mention on the Kindle forum here on Amazon. The light is very bright - even on the lowest setting. It might actually be a bit too bright if you are reading in bed with a significant other, but I don't have that problem at the moment. I read my Kindle naked - sans cover. This light firmly holds onto the Kindle without or without a cover. It is different than the other Might Bright Lights, as this doesn't clip on per se - it will slide onto the naked Kindle, and will extend to fit over the Kindle with a cover. I have added pictures above to show this in more detail. For me, the biggest issues are weight of the light and limiting a hotspot on the Kindle screen. I find this light to weigh about the same as the Mighty Bright XtraFlex2 Clip-On Light (Kindle Version) Black [Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging ], (maybe a little less) but it seems more balanced because of the wider base - easier for me to use in bed while I am lying on my side. The front edge also will not touch the Kindle screen like the Might Bright will. And I am able to adjust the light so I have no hotspot on the screen. Some of these things are probably personal preference, so your mileage may vary. If you like the Kandle, this probably isn't for you. If you like the Mighty Bright, this is slightly better in my opinion, but a bit pricier. Enjoy! :)

Great Kindle Light!!!
Bought this for my Kindle 3 (newest generation) This light is awesome, perfect for either night reading, or on cloudy stormy grey days (which is pretty much everyday when you live on the oregon coast in the winter). I can see where other people didn't like that it fell off with too much movement...but, I figured out why and was A-Okay with it. The clip is not a standard clothes-pin type...it expands out horizontally to accomodate your kindle in varying cases thicknesses...the only reason it's a bit wonkey is because the top of the kindle on the back is beveled...however, when my kindle is in the case the clip stays nicely in place because it has something nice and "square" to hang on to. The brightness is superb, and doubles as a flashlight when walking in a dark house...great for when I don't want to stub my toes on the corner of the furniture because I don't want to wake my sleeping husband with the overhead light. :) Can't comment on the battery life as of yet, but I have rechargeable batteries so I'm sure I won't have any problems with that. The light unit itself is a bit on the heavy side, and can flop forward if the light it extended all the way (vertically towards ones face), but keep in mind that was without batteries in it and without the kindle being in the case. Overall, an amazing light that works wonders!!!

Great little light
I just got this, so I can't comment on things like reliability, battery life or durability, but so far I must say that I like this light. I used it for the first time last night and didn't really have a problem setting it up to avoid glare yet still provide a well lit Kindle screen. I do like the clip as it seems to really just be an extension of the Kindle itself. I like that it slide on snug without pinching and no chance to accidentally clip it on to the screen itself as I've seen with some of the "clothes pin" style lights. Some have complained that the light is too harsh and too bright, but I didn't find it to be so. Even on the high setting, I didn't find it blinding or harsh. It fits nicely over my new Cole Haan case and Kindle together, so this is a nice plus, as well. I just got back from a trip overseas and I wish I had this with me for the the 11 hour flight home so I could have read while the little girl next to me kicked me in her sleep. Being the nice guy I am, I never turned on the overhead reading light...maybe I should have, but this little gadget would have been a much less offending solution! Well worth the money!

Belkin nearly got it right
The light has really only got to do two things well: stay in place and provide glare-free light. The clip mostly works, though it can be dislodged rather easily. The clamp is not a levered-clothespin, but a parallel clamp that doesn't exert a whole lot of pressure when in place. Not a dealbreaker for bedtime readers, but just don't expect to leave this thing in place while walking around the house or transporting in a bag. The LEDs put out as much light as a decent flashlight. It's not a peaceful, soft glow but a serious task light on a gooseneck. It's bright enough to annoy a spouse... even a spouse that's watching TV. If Belken knocked the lower setting down to about 1/3 its current brightness, it'd be plenty bright for reading the Kindle. The switch is on the lamp head, which itself is pretty small. Flicking the tiny switch with a thumbnail isn't that bad, but it's easy to flick right past the lower setting and end up lighting up the whole bedroom for a second --before switching the thing off by accident (missing the lowest setting, again). By doing this you end up creating a momentary disco effect in the bedroom just trying to get the thing turned on. Having AAAs instead of coin batteries in the light is a welcome convenience. You're more likely to have AAAs around the house than some little watch battery. Changing the batts is as simple as changing the batts in a TV remote control; there are no little screws contend with. I haven't had it long enough to judge its battery life, though. But be aware that the using 3xAAAs in a light does add a considerable amount of weight to the top of the Kindle. The concern isn't really with the weight it adds, but the way it affects the balance and ergonomics of the Kindle. I found the I had to hold the Kindle up a bit higher than I was used to. Holding something for an hour or two, you find that a little change can make a big difference. I found I liked clipping the light to the bottom of the Kindle to keep the center of balance low. But, this covers up the space bar and some other keys. The next best thing is to clip it to the side of the Kindle I'm holding, just above the page turn buttons. Pro: AAA battery's easily available and simple to replace 2 brightness settings Flexible head is easily adjustable for glare-free reading Con: Too bright. Even on it's dimmer setting, it lights half the bedroom. Heavy, affects the handling and balance of the Kindle
