Thrustmaster F-16C Viper HOTAS Add-On Grip (Windows)

I have gone through the cheaper (flimsey, loose, plastic) flight sticks/throttle control devices and when I bought the F16-C Viper offered for DCS World, I bit the bullet and purchased this flight stick. This product is packaged very well, and the construction is not cheap and flimsy at all. It was plug and play, no problems at all on Windows 11. It just worked. There is quite a bit of mapping to do if you want to fly using DCS World. There are about 21 or more buttons that need to be mapped to functions for the aircraft you are using. I would definitely recommend this flight stick.

Extremely well made, smooth and realistic, and in my opinion, the best on the market.

The joystick itself is excellent, but the pins they use to connect it to the base are weak and very easy to bend. This can make your joystick unusable if you do not know how to repair the pins (which fortunately we could as electronics engineers). If you are wondering how the pins could get bent, the answer is that in a battle, the player could twist the stick which could make the connection loose and possibly bend the pins. It really does not make sense to use this weak array of pins when much better connections would be possible such as USB from the stick to the base. USB would provide a single stronger connection point that is easier to repair or replace if it gets damaged.

Gave as a gift, they loved it. Thing is heavy and built high quality.

The Viper is the exact same grip that comes as standard on (newer) Warthog sticks. Older Warthog grips didn't have a "press" switch built in to as many of the 4-way hats as the Viper, but I was surprised to learn that this is simply a more affordable way to get the Warthog grip (maybe for use on a 3rd party base or something?).

Came quickly and works as it should....part of a overall sim system...

I received the TM F-16C stick in a box with a clean guarantee security seal stuck over a broken guarantee seal, which immediately made me suspicious. The original packaging for the stick seemed to be in good condition but, as soon as I opened up the inner box, I saw the included paperwork (instruction booklet and quick start slip) just sitting there on top of the packing foam, wadded up, instead of stored in the inner lid pocket like nit would be if it was new. They didn't even bother to pack it correctly. The stick itself seemed clean and functional, though the attachment screw ring showed signs of rough wear like it had been dropped or threaded roughly. I doubt it would have passed QA checks if it was packed by TM. Listen, I don't care if refurb stuff is sold on here. Hell, I buy refurb all the time! But, if you sell it as "NEW", you are in the wrong. I'm sorry for the low stars but I'm disappointed that this was done.

This thing is a beast. You are definitely getting what you paid for. It's quality built and the grip is steel - I was expecting a heavy duty plastic. It's heavy too - if you don't use it for flight sims, you could always defend your home with it as a club. The buttons are well placed and function smoothly. Stick movement is fluid and worked great for me with DCS, IL2 and Elite Dangerous. I only have two issues - 1st, (which is all on me) is that my last stick had a twist function; this one does not- just a heads up. 2nd - (this is all on my wife) - 1st stage trigger pull has a high pitch click which at times drives my wife nuts. I picked this up with the TMWH magnetic base and I couldn't be happier. If you have a the means, I highly recommend it.

This item was definitely not new. My previous Thrustmaster purchases have shown they go to great lengths to package their items properly and this one certainly wasn't. Box showed signs of wear, no instructions or quick start, despite the bill of sale claiming the item was 'new'. Good news is the joystick is solid and works fine. Be aware though, that what you're buying from this seller is not new, most likely refurbished.
