Bought this for my husband as an early father's day gift. We just bought some property and a lot of trees need to come down. I knew it wasnt going to work for a Stihl (which we have) but being my husband is an engineer by trade, he could make it work - which he did.We followed the directions that were on Amazon (none came with the sharpener), placed the sharpener on the saw and followed through allowing the saw to run the 3-5 seconds, there were a small amount of sparks (to be expected), took the sharpener off and became highly disappointed that it didn't sharpen the teeth but more rounded them. The rakes were fine but if we had went an additional 3-5 seconds - the chain would have been done for!Do not buy this product!!! Very disappointed and upset that we still have to manually sharpen our saw.

Was super excited to get this for my chainsaw to sharpen the blades and make them last a bit longer. Unfortunately even though one of the pins is able to be moved it just wouldn’t fit either of our chainsaws. As I couldn’t use the product I returned it.

Hate hitting a rock and dulling my blade in the field, this is slick, just open and place blade in and close, hold against tree to press sharpening element to blade and give it a few revolutions and you’re back sawing it minutes.

And then it works fine.I have a shindaiwa 18 . There’s holes but they don’t match the sharpener location. I unscrewed the pin assembly on the sharpener and repositioned to match the holes in my bar. I had to replace the screws because the ones that came in the sharpener were way small for the job.Sharpens just great in seconds and ur back to cuttingIf u can’t make sumpin like that happen where you can snap it shut with the pins holed and the tip in range of the stone you’re gonna dislike it.

I purchased this a little over a month ago and the add said it would work with any chainsaw bar - 2 holes or one. This is not true. I don't know how well it would work with 2 hole bar. But it absolutely does not work as it said and showed in the pics if the add. I will be calling Amazon tomorrow to see if I can get my money back. If not I will go buy a 2 hole chainsaw bar and see if that makes a difference. If it doesn't - I will be adding to this review. So my bottom line review is that this item is no good. I have an 18in chainsaw and used this item twice. It doesn't seem to sharpen the blade when used as the ad depicted. It fits very loose on the blade and I don't know if that is right. There were little to no real instruction of use or description of functionality. Next time I use it I will sharpen for a longer time and see if it works. At this time, I would not recommend this item.
