Excellent fix for N52 without replacing valve cover.
I have installed a few dozen of these PCV valves, and all of them have performed excellent. If your engine is howling and you feel excessive crankcase vacuum at the oil filler, you probably need this part. A replacement valve cover from BMW is now about $500 for the part, and labor is a bit over 5 hours. This offers a much cheaper fix. These are a little technical to install. DO NOT cut your original off with a Dremel, that will leave a horrible melted mess. The trick is to carefully crack away the original piece with a sharp chisel, then attach this replacement part with a little black RTV. Be sure to reuse the pressure regulating spring with the new part. I expect these will last several years at least.

Worked in a 2010 528xi
My original PCV had a tear and was causing a small vacuum leak. I had to chisel off the old PCV (thanks BMW), but once the old one was off, it was simple to apply some RTV to this new PCV and press it into position. I let the RTV dry overnight. I drove the car in the morning and the engine was noticeably smoother and there is no vacuum leakage at the PCV orifice, so everything seems to be sealed properly. This was much cheaper than replacing the whole valve cover.

I had to buy the whole valve cover
This will only work if the problem is in this excact spot ,Bmw valve covers have multiple pvc points that can fail,

Recomended part to replace
Altho the OEM "looked" fine,It was recomended that it be replaced along with the valve cover gasket kit.Removal of the OEM valve was very difficult.Nibbled it apart using a heat gun gently.Found the OEM diaphragm was indeed split apart.Sealing compound applied and it snapped into place perfectly.

Probably works for some 2011 e90 N51
Wasn't a hard job to install. I busted the old PCV out of the valve cover installed the new one with a little RTV. unfortunately it turns out there was an internal crack in the valve cover along with a broken PCV valve, so in the end I had to replace the entire valve cover.

Good so far
Saved me from replacing the entire valve cover on my Wife's 2011 E90 (2.5L 323i, Canadian model). Getting the factory valve off and the flange cleaned up definitely takes some time and lots of patience, but it can be done. This looks just like the factory valve, it probably comes from the same factory. Hopefully it lasts just as long as the original.

It works and you don’t have to buy a complete valve cover.

Bit of a tough install
You gotta take the valve cover out otherwise you’re gonna be there forever. Other then that it worked I have no complaints
