Packaging review
a review of the packaging / presentation then the films themself: First off, this is more of a bundle of the three films earlier releases then it is a new collection. The films each come individually in their original packaging with a throw away slip cover packaging them together. No new material is included.Film Movement seems to want to present these releases as some sort of pseudo Criterion or Arrow Films release, but the overall packaging and presentation doesn’t quite hit the mark. The Films come in generic somewhat films clear colored Blu-ray cases, unlike the nice bulkier cases used by other companies doing “premium” type movies releases. Violent Cop and Boiling Point both have somewhat comicbooky looking artwork for their covers, while Hana-bi has a still from the movie with some photo shopped in effects for the cover. It would be nice if all three films had shared the same design aesthetic. The cover inserts for each disc all have a still from the film printed on the backside, while this is a nice touch, I would’ve preferred maybe an alternative cover with each of the films original poster art like Areow Films releases do. Each movie also has a booklet with and essay and some stills from the film in it, these are nice, but are also made of a pretty normal paper stock.These aren’t “bad” releases of these films, more of just kinda generic feeling releases that aspire to feel like a more premium release would.

Underseen Director
Takeshi Kitano, what more can I say about the man other then he's a real renaissance man and has made some of the greatest modern Japanese films of all time, let alone overall in cinema, Hana-bi is the one in this collection that can not be denied of it's masterpiece quality.

Not my favorite Kitano films
The quality of this set is fantastic. My only problem is the movies themselves! Not the best 3 Takeshi Kitano films, in my opinion at least. Boiling Point especially is terrible.
