The adapter worked right away and no drama. Other adapters did not fit the HP computer properly - this one did.

This adapter came up when I searched for Dell 7.4 to 4.5mm adapter, but it is not compatible with Dell, only HP. This is due to it not passing through the middle pin which allows the adapter to tell the laptop how much power it can provide. Both brands use the middle pin for this, but they do so differently. This adapter has HP identification in it for 65w to prevent too much power from flowing through it if the brick it is used with can provide more than 65w. This obviously doesn't work with Dell laptops. The 65w setting can also be a problem if you use a brick than can supply less than 65w in which case the laptop will try to draw too much power potentially damaging the brick.

There are two types of connectors of Dell power. I bought this adapter so that I don't need to buy a new power.

Did not work on my HP Victus 4070 AMD gaming laptop. I checked voltage with my multimeter and I see 19V so prob not the adapter, but some dumb thing about the laptop... thanks hp...

I had several power supplies that were for a previous HP computer, but did not fit my new computer. The amperage and voltage ratings for the supplies and the computer were the same, but the plug was different. I ordered these adapters and they allowed me to use the existing power supplies with my new computer, which saved me a great deal of money versus buying additional power supplies. I have used these adapters for several months now, and they have performed flawlessly. I would definitely recommend this product.

The exposed metal (see red arrow) is a short circuit vulnerability. The laptop power cable barrel plug should be completely insulated when the 7.4mm x 5mm adapter is attached.

purchased two Dell mini PC's from ebay with no power supplies, but I had one HP same output and purchased another Dell power brick of ebay and used this adaptor on both. some laptops may complain about power supply in the bios but my mini PC's didn't.

Worked on HP genuine power adaptor to charge by smaller connector

I have 2 genuine Dell laptop power bricks with the exact same ratings. Sadly one has a larger plug so I got these adapters. I was hoping to keep one charger at home and one at the office so I won't ever be without one. It fits my charger and laptop perfectly but sadly doesn't work as I'd hoped. The laptop registers that it's being powered but the battery still drains slowly. In the kit are 2 adapters and both of them have this issue. It's much better than no charger at all. On battery alone on medium power settings I could work about 5 hours. With this adapter I can work on full power settings all day and end up with about 1/3 battery left at the end. Which isn't bad but means I won't make it through the next workday.
