I originally bought a different set of these for my grand-daughter's Chuck's that had laces (she's 4 so can't tie her shoes). I have several pair of tennis shoes that have laces and bending down to tie them when they come undone can be difficult with a bad back. I've loosened the laces on all my tennis shoes so I can slip them on and off easily. I decided I'd replace the tied laces with these so I didn't have to worry about them coming untied, which they would do at the most inconvenient times. The directions that came with them were a bit over simplified and leave out an important step. You must first determine "carefully and exactly" where to cut your original shoelaces. This can be tricky so put your shoes on then look at the twist crease in the lace where you usually begin the cross of your bow, then pull the laces together and look at the screw-on pieces to make sure once they're installed they will allow the room you want at the connection point. When you cut the shoelaces they must be carefully burned with a lighter or match (quickly and just enough to melt the nylon and seal off the end to prevent fraying). I had "flat laces" on all my shoes, not round, so this required a bit of extra heating and a pair of tweezers to fold the lace in half then squeeze the still hot, melted end into a piece small enough to fit through the pretty tiny feed hole in the end of the pieces. Once I got the first pair done the remaining 3 pairs went quicker as I became more proficient with this process. In some case you won't have a lot of shoe lace to work with if you wear your tennis shoes like I do. So you feed the burnt end into the hole and slide the piece all the way down to the shoe so you have room to tie your knot. The knot needs to be done carefully and as close to the burnt end of your shoelace as possible. Again, these connectors are small so I had to get the knot nice and tight right to the end then roll it back and forth tightly between my fingers with a bit of force to compress the knot as hard as I could so I could pull it into the connector (with the help of a toothpick and the tweezers on a couple pair). Once both sides are completed you screw the two pieces together and the tension should be exactly where you want it. I'm right-handed so I installed the male threaded piece onto my right shoe laces. After screwing them together your laces are all "twisted up" so you have to hold the connector "very tightly" and slowly untwist the shoelace so it's straight. Two of the four pair of connectors I received had faulty threading, the dark set required a pair of channel locks to get unscrewed and that pair and one silver pair had issues with one side not re-threading all the way leaving a tiny bit wider gap on one shoe compared to the other on the connector. The quality of these isn't great (the ones I got for my grand-daughter were much better), but they did the trick and now my shoelaces stay put, no more dealing with tying or untying shoeslaces.

We loved them. They fit any shoe and look good. I have them on my work shoes and my husband has them on his daily shoes. They hold up to the rough stuff we put our shoes through. I will be ordering another set for the kids.

Great idea. I like a snug fit in shoes so I was using 1/8" shock cord for laces. This was not an issue until tying the knots. The knot would (barely) go inside one half of the device, not so much on the side with the male thread. I ended up doubling the "lace" over and sewing it closed. Works so far. If these were a little bit wider and longer it would help assembly.

Was a little hard to get the shoelace into the hole the first time but after that holds well and looks good.

So simple to put on. They look nice with any lace up shoes. And would be perfect for seniors or kids of all ages

Si no te gustan los largos cordones de los zapatos, estos broches son una buena opción. Según las instrucciones, se debe cortar la parte sobrante de los cordones y ocultarlos dentro del broche, sin embargo es necesario hacer un nudo para que los cordones no se escapen del broche, y ésta es la parte difícil! Creo que si los broches fueran un poco más grandes se facilitaría mucho la tarea. En todo caso les doy 4 estrellas por la buena idea.

Easy to use, but would buy next time more black ones, because most of my shoes have black laces. But great thing, i don’t have to think about my laces getting stuck on my bicycle chain or get them messy when it’s wet outside.

I replaced laces in my trainers so I can now just slip my trainers on, no problem and they look so neat. Easy to fit and very comfy

Even tying as neatly as possible and pulling tight with pliers - standard soft laces do not fit inside the connector. Ruined my otherwise goods trainer laces trying. Very annoyed at incurring that extra expense of new laces - can’t for refund as ill need to use these as bellend to cover frayed end until I get new laces. Som instead of extra discrete laces Ill have extra attention to them. A round lace on my brogues ties an even firmer knot and would fit either even though they look slimmer but I didn’t cut them so it’s retrievable. . Be warned these would only work with very very fine soft laces that will tie into a very slight knot less than about 3.5 -4 mm diameter - I’m very annoyed that they are not fit for the purpose illustrated.
