This is a very good book. I have read this a least twice
This is a very good book. I have read this a least twice. This book was written in 1727 when an author could not say anything bad about the king or the government in England. The book is written in such a way that it slams the government and how conditions were in England at the time. Jonathan Swift was making a social statement about people and conditions. It is a well written book and very enjoyable.

Timeless
Kind of embarrassing that I hadn't read this book yet. Very fascinating book that takes on a series of human behavior nuances, and does so by thrusting the main character into lands of "people" who are quite different. Touches on topics of discrimination, privilege, politics, etc. It does so in such a fanciful way that it helps for the reader not to "judge" the author (which is so often done these days) and lets him get his points across in a wonderful, albeit abstract context.

It has all 4 stories
It is good print. It has all 4 stories which is a rare thing. But no illustrations. It would have been a perfect edition with old original illustrations.

A Repetitious Theme
I read this because it was a classic that I missed reading. The writing doesn't make for easy reading and by the third or fourth story it was becoming a belabored presentation. The protagonist had a shipwreck that put him in a country where the people were 1/10 his size. This was followed by a shipwreck that put him in a country where people were 10 times his size. Next, he was shipwrecked and landed in a country where people did things opposite to reason. By this time, I felt that I had explored about all the odd, fictitious civilizations that I cared to and simply skimmed to the end of the book.

Brilliant!
Complex as it is politically and socially, it is a joy to read -clear,sharp,witty, and subtle. The authors imagination is gargantuan and his style so straight forward, the reader disappears into fantastical worlds with Mary a thought but for social messages lurking everywhere.

Always happy with my purchase.
I bought this book for my daughter, after looking at other options, she opted for this book. It’s the book she chose for her high school senior thesis. She loved the book and is now working on the thesis.

Classic tale that still applies.
This story is done tongue in cheek and totally in the face of his government and yet done in good sport.

Boring and Tedious
I found this book to be very boring and tedious. My 5th grade teacher used to read parts of the book to our class so I always wanted to read it. I am glad I read it but even happier that I am done so I can start reading a more interesting and meaningful book. I do not recommend it.
