Amazing stain!
This stain truly working amazingly. I am redoing a lot of honey oak cabinets to give them more of a rustic feel. I did a TON of research because I wanted just the right tone and I stumbled upon the Spanish Oak gel stain. The color is great and amazingly transforms the wood to look like it came with the stain (shows the grain) instead of just looking painted which I REALLY didn’t want. It’s great because it’s only taking one coat for the perfect tone I was looking for. I would highly recommend if you want the natural wood look and not just a cover up. It truly takes away the orange tone of the oak cabinets that I didn’t want.

Great for fiberglass door staining
Easy to apply on our fiberglass door. I used a green scrubbing pad on the door to remove any flaking. Then I used mineral spirits to clean. After that dried, I applied this stain using a brush. Two very light coats did the job.

Make-up for your furniture!
Am addicted to this stuff. Wipe on, wipe off. No sanding. No painting. You can put it right over poly finishes. I even used it on some shiny brass hinges to age them. Shazam! I've used the espresso color to take an old oak backbar and "marry" it up to a very dark Pottery Barn dining table. I did put a coat of water-based poly over the countertop of the backbar just because it gets lots of water marks on it during parties. Incredible. Now I'm using this special walnut color to breath life back into an old dining set I use outside under a covered deck. I even used it on a $2000 8' solid core, 8 panel front door that had lost its luster. Bids to restore it were $1300. I did it with $10 worth of Old Masters. Tip: A little goes a longgggg way. I used rags to just apply it like furniture polish and then clean rags to pull it off. On some things I do a couple coats if I want it even darker. Again, a little goes a longggggg way!

10 stars
I tried two other gel brands that did not work for me.When working on a house the owner had me use this in dark walnut to glaze over turquoise for her kitchen- it's beautiful! Since then I have gone though 3 qts, which goes a long way, to restain all of my oak woodwork in my home. I only apply one coat since my oak was a bit darker than the standard golden oak. My stair banister rails were done over a year ago without a top coat and are holding up wonderful.I use a chip brush to apply, wipe it with an old tee shirt then uses the dried off chip brush again if needed to even out application.I did use it on unfinished wood, trying to match a new door to my old ones and it was way too dark. I needed to seal the wood first and then apply two coats of gel stain. I won't buy any other stain at this point. For restraining wood or glazing for a warm antiqued look this is a 10 star product.

Old Masters Gel Stain
Old Masters Gel Stain... While I would prefer a lighter color to let the grain show, this serves the purpose of what I needed. To repaint and freshen up some anorak chairs for the summer. I left the one I had set out in the rain all winter for several winters... looking a bit shabby and paint amazing stuff....It does cover a multitude of neglect....TIP (1)Watched a UTube Tutorial I did use the paint cleaner called (Cabot wood cleaner - with a stiff brush - first). Was too lazy to do all of that hand sanding. Then hosed them down and let them dry in the sun before painting them with the gel-stain.TIP (2)Best to paint with a sponge brush. Actually... used several paint sponge brushes and a sponge roller for (4) Chairs and (2) small Tables. You will need at least 3 - 4 cans. The shipping is super expensive. I though it was a gallon so I ordered one more and still needed to order another.TIP (3):Be sure to use gloves as it is thick like paint and will get under your nails and looks gross. It is very dark brown like paint not thin like stain... letting the wood grain show throughGood luck with your DIY Project. I do recommend

Great product!!
We applied this white gel stain lightly with a cloth on alderwood. It was SO easy to apply - and was so accomplished quickly. After it dried (which was fast) we then applied just small amounts of black paint/stain (again using a small cloth) to control the lightness and darkness of the streaks wanted) in order to give the wood an old distressed look. It was easy to apply, and the results are a really lovely bookcase. Wish I'd known what could be done with alderwood and this gel stain years ago, I'd have done an entire room with it. We put a matte finishing sealer over it - really sharp effect. The alderwood was inexpensive compared to other unfinished woods, and has wonderful grain lines and knots for character. Great Gel Stain product, and VERY fast delivery from seller (well-packaged also).

Lipstick on a pig
I have an old pine glider that had been exposed to the elements for years, leaving it seriously weathered and ugly. I managed to get it looking fairly decent by sanding it by hand, but didn't care for the grey wood. So, after much waffling about what product to use, I finally settled on a quart of Old Masters Gel Stain in Crimson Fire.I wanted a deep red, so I applied two thick coats of the gel stain to the glider and base and topped with three coats of spray-on spar urethane. Magic!I used a combination of cheap kitchen sponges that I cut in half, sponge paint brushes and a small artist paint brush for the hard to get bits (of which there were entirely too many!) I'm very happy with this product and the end result. Time will tell how well it stands up in the elements, but at this point I'm pretty optimistic.

Good results for a novice
This was my first staining project. I had previously picked up a kit to stain a fiberglass door that had this brand/color of stain, but found the kit did not include enough to do both sides. Was very happy with the results. It dried fairly quickly. I painted the entire door, doing the panels in the order recommended by the kit and by the time I was done painting, it was ready to wipe off. Only needed one coat. Afterward I applied a coat of marine poly. I had previously tried a different brand gel stain which was blotchy and did not dry. As a novice, I found Old Masters gel stain very easy to use.
