I agree with the other reviewer. The selection of tracks is excellent and the sound volume levels are consistent from song to song. Well produced and packaged. I am pleased that this cd includes a number of Larry Williams songs, many of which were covered by The Beatles. It is also great to hear Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, and Little Richard songs that are produced well. If you enjoy the early Beatles "Live At The BBC" style albums then this is a must have into understanding how the Beatles were influenced. I hope there is a Volume 2 issued at some time in the future. Perhaps a "The Roots of Paul McCartney" with "Twenty Flight Rock"?

This compilation is better packaged than you might think: a cardboard gatefold CD, not some clunky plastic thing, and the disc itself is made to look like a vinyl record. This isn't some hastily cobbled together product.A top-notch selection of songs helps, and the sound is punchy enough. That said, I can't help thinking it would make more impact on real vinyl, these tracks don't quite work for the digital age.Many of the songs are really about sex, but always with the brakes on - there always seems to be some chaperone or wedding bells in the air to lend it some legitimacy. "Gonna tell your mother and your father too..." What, that he's got a filthy DVD of their daughter doing the nasty in the back seat of the family car? Nope; "We're gonna get married on a night in June." Oh, okay. No wonder the Stones' Let's Spend the Night Together set transistors alight.
