Lots and lots...depends on what size you purchase. I used to buy the biggest box I could buy. And will again soon...

You boil water in the microwave. Without the rice. The box has all the instructions, it's super simple.

How long is the product shelf life?

If stored properly, shelf life is indefinite. I transfer mine into a large sealed container. Rice and dried grains, beans, etc don't expire unless stored incorrectly. Just watch for pantry bugs, moisture, etc. I always transfer into well sealing containers and store in my pantry.

Seriously? $25 plus s&h for one 28 ounce box of rice? am i reading this correctly?

I bought a huge box from Amazon Prime for under $6.00. Maybe you are looking at a 3rd party vendor. I only purchase from Amazon prime directly. 3rd party vendors charge shipping and the prices are sometimes very expensive.
