great for visual learners who need some active part in learning
Helpful in experiencing another learning mode for this challenging subjectNice to relax to, relieving a bit of the stress and tedious nature of learning/memorizing the subject matter

very helpful for nursing school
I got this book as a study aid to prepare for anatomy & physiology classes that are required prerequisites for the nursing program I plan to apply to. This book, along with its companion, Anatomy Coloring Book, is really very helpful. The plates are beautifully drawn, the instructions for coloring are clear and concise, and the accompanying text provides a useful summary of the anatomical or physiological feature being shown. The information is up to date and appears to have few errors although there is, very occasionally, a typo. The tactile and visual experience of coloring is really good to help retain and understand the information being conveyed. It is much more effective than reading and re-reading text, or staring at diagrams and trying to memorize everything that's labeled. Although I have two college degrees, both are in liberal arts and I finished them in the late 1990s, so I have limited exposure to hard science classes at the college level. By going through these two books on my own, I feel much better prepared for the anatomy & physiology class I'll be starting this fall. I would recommend them to anyone who feels a need for a study aid, wants to prepare for an anatomy or physiology class, or is just interested in how the human body works.

Definitely worth buying...
The write-ups for each section are well written and provide a good summary. They are a summary so don't expect a lot of detailed explanation. It is a good book to refresh your knowledge or to get an overview. I went into this never having taken an undergrad physio course and wanted to learn the basics before starting my master's program. It has definitely gotten me up to speed. Also, the pictures are great. I am a visual learner, so it really helps to "see" the physiological concepts using graphs, pics, etc. A word of warning, if you use markers to color it will bleed through to the other side. I took care of this problem by photocopying the pages with pics. This wasn't too hard, since the book is laid out with all the write-ups on the left and all the diagrams on the right. I thought about taping the photocopies pages back into the book, but decided instead to scan the book to use as a reference during my master's program. Honestly, for the money, it is a great value.

if you just want to learn basics, buy it; but if you need a reference book for your research...
Pros: it provides a novel way to study physiology; coloring process is fun for many; explanations on the left pages are reasonably detailed; low price.Cons: coloring may become boring eventually; by coloring, you may spend much more time than you should to learn a concept; if you are doing research, consider another classic textbook "Guyton and Hall" seriously.Overall, it you just want to learn basics and love coloring, this book is a pretty good choice.

Best Way to Learn Human Physiology
Seriously difficult to break a complicated organ into small "learnable" parts such that one is able to understand and organize the very specialized and multi-system loops of response in different body states. This does that - even better than the Kapit coloring book that I had before which lumped anatomy and physiology of the human into one text. It is a coloring book - and this ensures that your eyes do not "miss" important small ions and loops and that your eyes and brain and hands (many senses is better) can handle the information. It is also a text - there is a great deal of written information.

Looking for more
This was nothing what I thought I was getting. However, I do like the lecture that comes with each system.

Nice book with a cool concept
Ordered on my Prime account and arrived one day early. Nice book with a cool concept. Its not like a typical anatomy or physiology coloring book that your probably thinking about. This is an intro level text book. However, rather than the typical text reference to a picture, this book is written with instructions for the student to color the diagrams themselves to reinforce the learning. Also, the diagrams aren't the typical diagrams that you see in text books. These pictures and diagrams are drawn specifically for the text. For example, as the text is describing something like the Flight or Fight response, the student is coloring a picture per text instruction showing the whole response including the endocrine system along with the autonomic nervous system. And the drawing instructions included in the text have you color it in a beginning to end fashion of the response cycle. I think its a pretty cool book. It is an intro level text however. So if your an advanced student in premed or something like that, its probably to basic for you.
