On the cutting edge of sexual liberation and knowledge
A male friend with many shared interests recommended this book and I bought it reluctantly, expecting to find the same old tired refrains about unresponsive women and the equivalent of another Mars/Venus dichotomy. Instead, I am happy to say that THE CLITORAL TRUTH makes information about women's anatomy and responsiveness more comprehensible than most books that make the same claims. I was particularly happy to see that the author tackles the issues of G-Spots and female ejaculation by relying on women's experience instead of the academic doubts of male "experts" who seem to have very limited experience with women. The reality of a range of responses in women, depending on their beliefs, circumstances, and level of arousal, reminds us all that what we are TOLD we do is usually very different from what we KNOW we do. This is true whether we talk about female ejaculation, multiple orgasm, ability to self-pleasure to orgasm, or teach our partners what we want and like. Her list of resources, books, Internet sites, and workshops is wonderful. This book is a terrific companion to Betty Dodson's SEX FOR ONE: THE JOY OF SELF-LOVING.~~Joan Mazza, author of Dream Back Your Life; Dreaming Your Real Self; Who's Crazy Anyway; and Exploring Your Sexual Self (a guided journal).

Essential Read for Women and Men
This book is packed full with empirical research and information that is rarely discussed or taught in general sex ed classes. Chalker's references are well documented and based in up-to-date sexology/human anatomy studies. The Clitoral Truth contains drawings of the massive internal structures of the clitoris, so that women and men can appreciate how this organ wraps around the vagina and urethra in various ways among women. Just as no two penises are exactly alike...no two clitorises are identical...And hence, women experience orgasm differently. Chalker's chapters highlight some of the history of the clitoris, the importance of this organ, and how to include it in your sexual play.I would also recommend Rachel Maines' "The Technology of Orgasm" if you are wishing to better understand women's orgasm (or frequent lack thereof) and how ignorance about the clitoris and ignoring this vital organ relates to women's lives and sexual experience.

Untold Histories
Dr. Rebecca Chalker, who is a resident professor at PACE in New York, and a visiting scholar at numerous conferences, has given both men and women a clear, easy-to-read book that explores history, religion, sociology, and even a kind of spirituality through the lens of (gasp) sexology. The Clitoral Truth contains illustrations on anatomy as well as a sort of scholarly, yet concise, guide to the female body that can benefit many women and their male or female partners. This book is a must for any female who had gaps in her sexual education, women curious about what goes on anatomically "down there", men seeking more information on how to better understand female physiology, or anyone who enjoys history and honesty.

Time to know self better
We are -- above all else beings -- able to love, learn, and grow. But specifically as women of the 21st century we are held back from understanding ourselves and what can render our fulfillment as sexual being. This expertly written book is filled with historical content, elementary visuals (easy to understand), and an easy flow of discussion which aids a woman to what Socrates said for us as being to do and that is "know thyself". Don't be put off by the subject when the truth will set you free.

There are no boundries, only edges!
No one else is writing so thoughtfully and directly regarding women's sexuality. What a great book for husbands, wives and "lovers" everywhere! Thank you!

Fascinating read, not just about my own biology that I didn't know, but also about the history of the feminist movement to some degree. I think every woman (and every man!) should at least take a look at this one. I learned a lot.

Brilliant!
Women should read this even if just to understand how they're build, what's it for, how it can fully work, and how to get to the utmost heights of pleasure. Full of resources, fascinating facts etc,I got there Betty Dodson's website...it's a mine for driving pleasure ;)

A must read book for men who love women.
This is the best sexual manual I have ever read. Without exception.I explains, in great detail, how women achieve orgasm. As a man who has spent his life trying to be a good lover, it has widened my horizons by teaching me many things I did not know.Of course there is a feminist side. That is not surprising because the male half of the population has done very little to help women achieve the best possible joy from sex and love making.Men who put their lover's needs before theirs also have much to learn from this book. I cannot recommend it highly enough.Mike Van Moppes
