So its not 4k...
Listen, if you thought you could get a true 4K camera for under $400 ... The product isn't the issue. This camera is by no means a professional film-makers choice. HOWEVERI gave this camera 4 stars because I think its value is amazing. The quality is on par (maybe a bit better) than my phone camera, but doesn't suck up cloud storage, and doesn't tie up my phone. It has all the standard camera features you would expect: Hot shoe, tripod mount, AND audio input, ability to plug in to USB without external power, HDMI output, etc. It comes with a powered mic that connects to the hot shoe AND allows passthrough if you wanted to add something else. It works great with the wireless lapel mic i purchased separately. One of my favorite things about it is the case. Not only does it nicely fit all the included accessories - It has more space, so i was able to pack my wireless lapel system in it as well.In short, don't let the bitter 1 star reviews mess with your decision, and don't take stock in the 5 star "free product" reviews that exist for this. I'm a verified BUYER giving this camera 4 stars for value and purpose. Don't film your African safari, but if you're a maker on a budget, like myself, this camera is a great choice.

Sufficient features for the price, but certainly not a high-quality camcorder
Don't be deceived by the image of this professional-looking camcorder with sun-shield, etc., -- this is a regular run-of-the-mill digital camcorder with some plastic fittings and shotgun microphone to make it look like a high-end unit. Its dynamic range is somewhat poor (videos in darker areas or where portions of the video are sunny will show up as just a dark blotch). See attached screenshot from a sample video.The audio is ok, but nothing to rave about. The interface is someone klunky, with touchscreen-only controls for all menu items, and some touchscreen buttons are on the very edge of the screen which makes them difficult to "click" without a stylus or a very careful fingertip.The batteries are pretty lousy. Starting with a full charge, I was only able to get about 1 hour of regular HD video (without using the lamp or nightvision) before the battery indicator turned red. They do give you 2 in the kit though, and it appears as though you can plug it into USB to power it while recording.

Not the best but great for the price
If you want a 4K camera this kit is really well priced. It includes the camera and some accesories to make your video and sound quality better. The sound quality on it's own isn't great but once you add the microphone it will be much better. However you do need to make sure the external mic is fully charged and turned on when you film. I filmed one video without turning it on and had to reshoot, it's easy to forget. It doesn't come with a light like the lower model 1080p bundle does but you can still add one to it (they aren't terribly expensive). The lenses on the two models are the same in that you screw them in and can add the hood. But they can be a little confusing on how they all go together. The batteries have a decent life and it does give you two which is great so you don't have to worry if one runs out and essentially gives you about twice the filming time.The interface and menu options can be a little confusing and are really basic and not particularly user friendly or intuitive. I'm not a huge fan of the interface or options but I am coming from an older Sony Handycam which doesn't have as good of picture quality. The zoom on this is only digital zoom so no matter what you will only get a more blurred image when zooming. This is largely because these cameras are set up to be vlogging cameras so you can film video of yourself close up talking into the camera. Zoom is rarely needed for this type of video so it only has digital. You can zoom if necessary but it won't produce as clear an image as an optical zoom so it would have to be kept to a minimal.

Don';t get this camera
Although the features of this camera might seem like a good deal and it is if the camera worked. I have gotten 2 cameras from amazon one of which was a replacement. The camera will lock up on you after you press the record button. this is the same problem I have had with the 1st camera I received.It may not happen immediately though it just might. The camera will lock up maybe after a few used and you will have to take out the battery to get it working again. Maybe. it might return to a usable state for awhile or maybe just once. I was at the point where I would wonder every time I pressed the record button if it would work even after removing the battery.I don't think its a sim card problem because I used the one that came with the camera as well as some others. no matter what card I used I had the same problem.

Decent Camera and Kit for the Price
The media could not be loaded. I was frankly shocked at the quality of the picture (not always visible in the video I made) from this camera. It's not the most robust piece of equipment I own. It is however a decent camera with a lot of clever functionality built in. I love the wide angle lens. I cover a lot more detail in the video.

Looks And Feels Professional Without The Professional Price!
I really wanted this. I’m so tired of trying to get decent videos with my IPhone and I just updated it. So, that is why I ordered this. So far, using this has been a dream. It’s definitely better. The manual is easy to understand and the camcorder is very easy to operate but it still has a very pro-like quality. My videos look so much better with the 4K resolution. I couldn’t even imagine how different using this would be. When I researching camcorders, I didn’t think all the 4K updated equipment would ,make a difference but this definitely proved me wrong. I love this camcorder! It has been great using this with optimum results. The digital zoom is amazing and the infrared night vision actually works great. This can also record while charging and I cannot believe that this came with a SD card. It also came with a nice hard case. This really is the perfect set-up.
