Peter Cetera's second solo album was 1986's Solitude/Solitaire. It featured two massive #1 singles, "Glory Of Love" which was the theme from the film, The Karate Kid, Part II, and "The Next Time I Fall" (with Amy Grant). The album was produced by Michael Omartian and was certified RIAA-Platinum.

Best Cetera solo effort
I'll say up front that I am a considerably bigger fan of Chicago than of any Peter Cetera solo stuff. Most anything he has released in the past 10 years or so has been a snooze-fest to me. Don't get me wrong--it is all fine and pretty music, and I understand why people like it; but for me the continual slow tempo is a bit tough to take.Nonetheless, this first release after he left Chicago truly is a very fine album. Most everyone knows the beautiful # 1 singles off of this album--"Glory Of Love" and "Next Time I Fall." 15 years later and I still enjoy hearing those songs. Also very good are such uptempo numbers as "Big Mistake" (the single released after the two aforementioned # 1's that didn't hit the top 40), the title track, "They Don't Make 'Em...", and "Queen Of...." And for sure the closing ballad track "Only Love Knows Why" (another obscure single track) is a beautiful song. All in all, this is a very fine effort that Peter unfortunately never matched again. I still would like to see him release a true greatest hits album (not some hokey collection like that "You're The Inspiration" compilation). In the meantime, this effort plus to a lesser degree "One More Story" are his solo albums that are most worth owning.

A very solid, solo effort
I had Solitude/ Solitaire on cassette many years ago, and for some reason never got around to replacing it. It's hard to believe it's now been 30 years since the initial release. While "Glory of Love" and "Next Time I Fall" are the biggest stars, other good songs can be found here. I particularly like the title track, "Big Mistake", "Daddy's Girl" and "Only Love Knows Why". A few of the songs sound a little dated today, but are a nice trip down memory lane.

The clear voice of Peter Cetera
Well, this review is more from my nephew than from me. I bought this for him as a gift. He had requested it. He said it's perfect and he loves it. I haven't heard it yet, sadly. But Peter Cetera's voice is so unique. You know it when you hear it and if you love it, you LOVE it! So I'll be borrowing this album from him soon so I can hear all the songs personally.

Brings Back Memories
I had been unable to find this album as an MP3 download so I was glad to be able to purchase it through Amazon. I had the original on cassette tape and now I'm glad to have the CD. This is a good mellow sounding album which has several worthy selections. "Glory of Love" is my favorite, but it also includes "The Next Time I Fall" and "Only Love Knows Why", both of which are Peter Cetera's trademark sound. The album will not disappoint.

not my favorite genre, but he does it well
A trip back to 80's MTV music, not my favorite genre, but he does it well. I got the mp3 because I just saw him in concert and that was awesome, much better than this CD which is heavy on electronic music.
