Don't know I'd trust the airlines with it
Bought two of these and two wheel bags for traveling with our bikes: one for my XL mtn bike; one for my wife's 54cm gravel bike. Her's fit great without removing anything other than the wheels. Simply turned the bars so they were in line with the frame and the bike zipped right in.My XL mtn bike was having none of it. with the dropper post down and the bars turned, everything would fit except the rear derailleur. We weren't flying commercial so it was fine to leave that hanging out the back. The bag is made of durable nylon with a heavy zipper but there's absolutely no padding. The bags worked great for our travels to protect the bikes and keep everything else grease free. With no padding, I don't think I'd try checking a bike with the airlines or even trusting home movers to handle the bikes without beating them up. After our first trip, I did find a larger version of the bag which I'm hoping will better fit my mtn bike for future trips.

Add Cardboard
The bike bag is a heavy material that will transport your bike safely in the car. However, I bought this bag with a lot of anxiety about putting my bike on a plane. I wanted to buy a nice bike box but didn’t want to spend the money. My second choice was to use a bike box from a store, but, the box was huge and I don’t know how I would’ve carried it, so I bought this bag.The bike bag arrived in a small box, and when I removed it, it was just a canvas bag. I had read reviews to add cardboard to line the inside of the bag.I had bubble wrap, extra clothes and my Camelback. I took my handlebars and pedals off and wrapped those then strapped the handlebars to the bike after wrapping the frame. I put the forks inside my Camelback for cushion, a piece of cardboard between the disc brake pads, and I used shrink wrap, which was key.I was not able to fit my bike, which was a medium frame with 29 inch wheels inside the bag without removing both tires and padded in between the tires in the bike frame, as well.*Remember to deflate your tires, as is usually required by the airlines and to bring the tools you used to remove the parts of the bike so you can reassemble it with ease.I also used used two straps on the outside of the bag to keep everything in place. My bike arrived in perfect condition and I couldn’t have been happier. If I would have had a flight with a layover and had to change planes, I’m not sure I would have chosen to pack my bike in a bag, but I was so happy when I went to reassemble my bike, and everything worked perfectly.I had a choice of bringing my alloy or my carbon frame, and although the carbon frame was obviously lighter, I chose my alloy frame, because I thought it would be sturdier for the trip. There is a lot of room in the bag for packing material & it was 47 pounds after I added everything.I have a Specialized, alloy Stumpjumper, medium frame. I hope this review helps.

Very sturdy
I bought this for my husband's old bike. It needs to go into storage during the winter so I thought this would be a good way to protect it. It's a very sturdy bag and the handles make it easy to carry. We also used it on a trip. It's a great way to transport a valuable (or sentimental, but delicate) bike.

So far so good
Good bag! I’ve only used it once to travel on the Greyhound on a short trip and it did the job! For reference I have a 29er and it fit perfectly

Works for car transport, not so great for airplane
I took my 29er MTB on international travel on this bag. Why pick a cheap bag? Well, the bike was a cheap used bike that I intended to leave behind. I put packaging material and some cardboard reinforcement. It would've held up better if it wasn't for TSA. That being said, the straps do not come off, so they can tangle with anything, which it did. It ended up ripping the stitching on the side, still remained intact (see picture). The side and edges had small holes on them when I got the bag. I understand luggage does get abused, but one trip is all you can realistically expect to get out of the bag to be honest. Still it did its function although not stellar, and with some extra abuse (*ahem* TSA). All in all, a box would've worked better IMO. I left the bag behind first chance I got (AirBnB owner kept it for future folks that may need it).

Great for Air Travel
I followed the great pictures and advice from another reviewer, Jorge Aguilar, and did the same: wrapped foam around the frame, lined the bag on the inside with 2 cardboard boxes I bough for $2.40 each at Home Depot and added a strap around the bag (a Husky 8 ft. x 1 in. Luggage Straps $5 for a 2-Pack also at Home Depot). I checked the bag with United for a cross country trip and it arrived in perfect conditions! As others have noted, I would not use this bag without lining it with cardboard inside as it is not padded and offers on its own no protection for the bike. But for a few extra dollar in cardboard and bubble wrap, it is a very convenient and affordable solution to ship the bag across the country as checked luggage.

Big ripper 29”
Packed my 29” big ripper with an extra set of wheels and handlebar plus skateboard. It fit it all well but it had no padding so I wrapped everything in bubble wrap. Padding is completely up to you. I did one trip and it had some holes and a tear on the edge. Great for a one time fly trip. Bike showed with almost no damage other than some chips on the forks
