The Quiet One

Excellent doc on the life of bill Wyman, bass player for the Rolling Stones
If you are a hard core stones fan, this is a very enjoyable movie. Lots of chronological film of the stones from their beginnings, right up to the time he left in 1992. Check out the frenzied audiences as they begin to become very popular in England, and then, elsewhere. And the film continues on with Bill's life after the Stones, which was very interesting.quite a unique person for a rock and roll musician. Bill is the band's archivist. He has saved it all, and you see his archive room with so many rows and rows of memorabilia, in his home. Such an interesting man, very enjoyable film. He's published books as well. His best book of his collected archive is called "Rolling with the Stones". If you want the absolute best book of the visual history of the Stones, this is the book to get. It's quite huge in size. There are many used copies around. Vastly enjoyable for the dedicated fan. if you know a big Stones fan that does not have this book, it would make a great present. Many of the used copies are in quite good shape, no need to purchase new.

Bill Wyman quietly tells his own story...
Bill Wyman is a terrific guy... a man who knows the score and keeps most of it to himself. I'm a fan of this quiet man, and never tire of learning more about him. This film tells a lot, shows a lot, but still leaves me wanting for more -- though what more I could hardly say. It's a wonderful film. It shows a guy who kept his feet on the ground, even when his head was in the heights of fame. How many other rock stars could stay so sane? So in touch with themselves? So in touch with their origins? With their fans? Bill Wyman. That's who. If you want to understand the meaning of modesty, then watch this film. Bill Wyman is a number one guy. A class act, from start to finish.

The bass mans story
A good look at the life of Bill Wyman the bass player for the Rolling Stones from 1962 to 1990. There are a few supprising omissions! No methon of his song writing attempts during 1967 when Mick and Keith were in jail and he managed to get a song on a Rolling Stones album ! Lol. Or his claim that he came up with rift for jumping jack flash in 1968. Also no methon of the attack on him and his then wife in Jamaica in 1973 when the stones were making an album there. ? But apart from these omissions it’s a good summery of his life.

Good Bio about Bill Wyman
We don't hear much about Bill Wyman, former bass player and member of the Rolling Stones. He's always been considered the quiet one. He recorded and journaled everything the Stones did when they first started and published a coffee table book about it all The movie goes into more of what was going on with the Stones while he was with them until he retired.

More to Wyman than most folks know
You won't see Mick and Keith weighing in which turns out to be good. You only need Bill Wyman and his amazing collection. First one to get with anything new in the way of tech early on. A vast collection of Stones history. My college roommate and I met him years ago (1965) and he was the one who spoke up about England and "you must come and visit" ... not him, but his country. Best ambassador ever and a gentle soul to boot. A real treasure.

DVD needs more
I like Bill Wyman. Always have. But I was a bit disappointed in this DVD. Here's why. All together I don't think there was much more than five minutes of footage of Brian Jones and maybe one minute of Mick Taylor. Both major contributors to the Stone's sound. I was expecting a lot more of Bill's home movies to be included.

A Must-See for Serious Stones Fans
Having been a Rolling Stones fan for well over 30 years now, I purchased this just because it was Stones-related! Well, it is a very well done movie! Bill Wyman (aka the Quiet Stone) really delved into the history of the band and how it all came about. There were things he spoke about and pictures he had that I had never seen and never heard before -- and I thought I had seen/heard it all where this band is concerned! I highly recommend this movie!!!

Great movie about the Stones’ bass player
I really liked this, then again, I’m a huge fan of the Stones. Most impressive was Bill’s archives and memorabilia. He is a true collector, documentarian and historian, not just of his time with the Stones, but also from the time he was child. Many old cameras, film and electronic equipment that are kept in archival quality. Bill has had a very entertaining, informative and fascinating life.
