Great value for money and keeps kids happy!
This makes a great present for kids as everyone with kids will know how much they love to take photos. I got my daughter a basic kids camera a few years ago but it was pretty poor but also designed for younger children. The picture quality is ok but not great although the playoff is that the SD card doesn't get filled up so quickly but the 9 million photos she takes but refuses to delete any of.The build quality is fairly good and it seems robust enough which is obviously essential in something designed for kids and their clumsiness. The camera has a built in battery which is great as it eliminates get another need for AA or AAA batteries as we seem to get through them so quickly. You can add frames and mess around with the photos which she really likes and keeps her entertained. The only design issue is the colour as it's either pink or blue and can appear a bit "babyish" for older kids so a few more neutral options would be good. All in all though it's very good value for money and a great stocking filler.

Good camera for very young children.
I decided to buy my five year old this camera for Christmas instead of a vtech young kids version. My elder daughter was bought a vtech camera when she was very little, and for a few reasons she really didn't like it or use it much, mainly because it was a really heavy camera which seriously ate batteries, looked clunky and ugly, and wasnt really straightforward. I seem to recall that we had to set up a vtech account and there was a lot more messing about than we had anticipated. Maybe things have changed I don't know, but I wanted the simplest of the simple when my youngest expressed an interest in taking photos beyond using her kids fire tablet. So, on many fronts this does tick all the boxes. It's very lightweight, almost featherweight! The human mind links weight with quality, so some would call this "cheap" feeling. The thing is, it's a very lightweight plastic type shell. The internal wiring electronics are the same as any heavier item though! For a very young and very little child the size (which is about the same as an adults compact camera) and weight is right. I will take the sellers word on this case being protective; I'm certainly pleased it won't hurt little feet when dropped (did I mention how heavy the vtech camera was, especially with batteries)?!It has a lanyard. There's no case for it but I'm sure you could pick up a general little neoprene style case for less than a fiver of you wanted. I'm not bothering with that, as I'm pretty sure I'd spend a lot of my time reuniting the case with the camera. The screen is plastic instead of glass.Charging is by usb. A godsend. Batteries are the devil's work in children's toys; life is a conveyor belt of screwdrivers, AAs, AAAs, and the odd 9v! I like rechargeable very much. There's a pack of very nice cute stickers I wouldn't mind pinching for my journal...So far, so good.Switching it on, and it plays an on sound and the screen wakes up. Operating it is a little bit more complex than the basic instruction sheet tells you. It took me a couple of minutes pressing buttons to work out how to change picture quality and turn the camera into selfie mode and I came back to look at the product description here too. Once worked out it's easy though. Your child would probably only need to know how to change the funky frames included, and turn the camera to selfie view. Changing from camera to video is on the start up screen. The one downside - the picture quality isn't as good as I hoped for, as I thought this would produce much better than it does from the product description. It's about the same quality as the camera on a fire tablet, so the resolution isn't fantastic. Good enough for a small child who would probably fill up the installed sd card in no time if taking very high resolution images. But if you're hoping for your child to produce a paparazzi photo album of their greatest moments, be prepared for not getting the crispest images printed off. They're a bit grainy and lack sharp detail, and of course there's no fine focus. This is for young children though, so I don't know why I'm so surprised by that really. I just want my little one to be able to take photos independently of mum and dad's constant input, which this camera allows. Point and click.Images can be manipulated through any photo editor on the pc in just the same way as any other photo. Downloading is easy, just plug the USB lead in and let them download. It would be the same for downloading to a laptop.I'm pretty sure my little girl will enjoy her photography using this and hopefully we'll get a few fairly decent images worth printing off for her. The main thing is the fun factor, which I think any young child will find in this, and of course the bonding time as you download and go through their photo moments on a big screen with them after their photo shoots!!!

Fun for hours and hours
Purchased this as a birthday present for my 6 year old son. Was happy when it arrived as the camera was the perfect fit for him to carry around, it wasn't to clunky or heavy so straight away my son took it everywhere. It was very easy to set up and charged within an hour with the USB cable, then it was ready to go. The camera comes with a large memory card which is handy as you don't have to keep plugging it into the laptop to clear the photos. The functions are basic and really easy to use which is what a child of my sons age needs to quickly become used to the buttons. He found it easy and managed to navigate between selfie and the normal camera. The quality of the photos is good for a first camera, and very impressive concidering my son takes them while running around the house.Being a 6 year old the camera has already fallen several times and even down the stairs, there wasn't a scratch on it. The build of the camera is designed so that it hits the rubber edging before the lense or picture screen can be damaged. When I do want to transfer the pictures I can just plug it into my laptop and transfer the photos with ease to either print or store.

Theoretically great - easy for kids to use - but broke fast.
Theoretically great - easy for kids to use - but also broke fast after it was dropped a few times. It's a kid's camera, so needs to be more robust than that.

Great first camera.
The picture quality isn’t great, but okay. On par with camera phones around 10 years ago. Quite nice and robust, fairly easy for a child to use. My toddler loves it.

Don't think twice! Great camera for young photographer!
I bought it as a replacement for VTech camera for my nephew who is turning 8. He is into taking pictures and can spend hours taking/editing/adding frames and so on and on. His previous camera was too heavy, too bulky to hold, was running out of batteries way too quickly and setting it up was a nightmare! This camera on the other hand is true opposite of all the above! Very easy and child friendly. I was very impressed to witness my nephew did everything by himself from opening a package to taking his first photo. And as a bonus its much cheaper compare to other well known brands.
