This thing is ace!
I replaced the hinges on my bathroom door and it started closing by itself afterwards. So, I thought I'd look up a magnetic door stopper.I'm absolutely in love with this product. It works just like I was hoping, and even better. The neat thing is that the door stopper part has a very open, radial surface with which to grab the door bumper. This means if you are installing the stopper on a wall, you can mount it either vertically or horizontally and it will still work great. Just depends on your aesthetics. It also means that it should work just fine mounted on the floor. After having received this, I did wonder (as others have) for a minute about how to get the pieces apart. But if you look at the photos, you'll notice that the stopper has a screw part (nipple) in the middle. After a couple of seconds, I realized that both the stopper and the bumper just need to be unscrewed in order to get to the screw holes. The instructions do not mention this point, but it's pretty intuitive. I did need to stick a couple of small screwdrivers in each hole of the bumper and twist to get it to unscrew. If you are installing this on wood baseboard and door (like I did), you won't need the anchor plugs. Just use the screws. Easy peasy with judicial use of a screw gun (drill). I have to mention that I have quite a bit of remodeling experience, so it took me maybe 5 minutes to get this all installed. But even if you don't have that experience, just take a few minutes to think and use some common sense - it'll work out nicely for you.Installing on tile is a bit more work. In that case, I think you'd only want to mount the stopper with the ring completely perpendicular to the door. Also, installing on surfaces other than wood is where your plastic anchors would come into play. The little instruction card mentions using a 3/32" bit for anchors - that's not correct at all - way too small of a bit. I think that was a misprint. Should be a 3/16" bit (twice the size) at least. And make sure you use a *masonry* bit, not a normal wood or metal bit.Another neat thing is that the bumper comes with a spring inside it. Once installed, it keeps the bumper/stopper connection from being a jarring experience. That spring inside the bumper, though, does make it hard to screw the face back on after you've mounted it. Again, just be patient.I'd also like to point out that most of the negative reviews of this product are unwarranted, and most likely done by those who didn't really understand what this product is for and how it should be used. The magnetic attraction is PERFECT for interior use. Yet I see reviews that say this won't keep the door open during gale-force winds (to paraphrase). What the heck? Please understand what a product is designed for before you buy it.Anyway, 5 star recommended. It's good-looking, adaptable, works well and super cheap to boot. Plus, it's actually a nice match for all the oil-rubbed bronze fixtures we've recently been upgrading to. (Sorry about the poor picture - phone upgrade is in consideration haha)

GREAT quality, appearance and function
GREAT quality, appearance and function. I mounted on our front door to let breezes in as desired, without the wind slamming the door shut. Our new wood floor overlay leaves no gap for a door wedge to work, so this is perfect if not better. Our door's middle hinge is moderately springed to shut the door automatically. This product's magnet is perhaps medium strength so if you have a STRONG door-return mechanism, it may not hold the door open. -Make sure- during mounting that the stem meets up with the receiver perfectly for max holding power. This took me two tries. I ended up taping the the receiver cup on the already mounted stem and pressed it to the door and then marked it, drilled holes, screwed in, and success. Love it. All those years of stooping down to block the door open with something heavy are over. Now, I just open the door until I hear a gentle 'click' and it stays open until I decide to close it with one finger. -Brett in Portland

Good product, great customer service!
I ordered this to hold a door in place that tended to rest halfway open. I ordered this product to hold it open. I used the product for a few months and then a component broke, which left it unusable (hence 3 stars). Even though my order was outside the normal range of time for refund/return, the customer service sent me a replacement product (the entire product, not just the component), which I have installed. I imagine that my original product was a fluke. Either way, the great customer service will keep me coming back to this seller! I am very pleased with the product and service received.

Great
Nifty little door stop, easy to install with a few screws and it tightens down to protect my wall and keep the door open when I want it to. The Wall side of the stop is actually spring-loaded to absorb impact from the door. You have to be a little gentle for the magnet to kick in if you have a heavy door; the magnet is not incredibly strong but it seems to be a good balance. Enough to hold the door when you want it to, but not enough to be annoying and stick open when you're using the door normally.Aesthetically it looks good too, although the silver plate in the stop contrasts a little more than I expected from the darker antique brass finish. The set complements my antique brass doorknob well, and overall is very simple and elegant.

Great door stopper. Stylish and functional.
The door to our apartment has a fairly strong auto closer. Most of the time this is great, but sometimes I would like to keep it open, for instance when I am brining groceries in. This does the trick very nicely. It is just strong enough to hold with our closer but easy to pull off to close the door.Mounting is a bit of a pain, as it is sort of hard to get the disk out of the wall portion. I ended up using a pair of needle nose pliers. When mounting, alignment is an issue and the instructions don't really tell you how to get it right. What I did was make a test fit and then mount the door part about where I thought it needed to be, and then put the wall part on the wall with it assembled and draw a circle around it with pencil. This got a perfect mounting so the two parts align perfectly.

Easy to install and strong magnet
Does what it says it does. Not the first magnetic door stop I've purchased, but I do think this one has a stronger magnet than the other brand, so that's a plus. Easy to install and works like a charm. I'd buy one again.

Perfect for the door we needed to stay open that ...
Perfect for the door we needed to stay open that would slowly shut. We intentionally chose this one b/c the magnet is not that strong -- I've gotten these for a condo that had wind blowing hard through it and the doors really needed to be held strongly by the magnet. Other magnetic door stops are much stronger, but they're also hard to pull closed! If you have a door that just needs a light stick to stay open, this is the right one b/c there is no "yank" necessary to close it/release the magnets.
