DEVMO 2PCS CH340 chip USB to RS485 485 Converter Adapter Module Compatible with Support Window 7/8 / XP/Vista/Linux

I grabbed these for a different use than advertised. I do a lot of 12v and 6v wiring in my travel trailer. Lots of times I needed to provide power to a string of lights to test whether I ran everything correctly. These adapters allow me to plug the adapter into a charging USB device and test connectivity. These work great for that. I connected wires to the adapter with alligator clips on the other end. Then all I have to do is connect the alligator clips to the light string that I just installed and want to test. Easy peasy.Am I a satisfied customer? Yes. Would I recommend them to a friend? Yep.

I ordered these with the plan of powering five volt DC devices from the two wire terminals that are on the adapters. After testing with my multimeter, they do not output five volts. Upon further inspection, these devices seem to be a USB adapter for some sort of serial, but I'm not sure how. Usually serial requires at least four pins. I'll hang on to them in case I get a device that uses RS 485 ever, but I don't think I could use them anyways, as they don't come with drivers nor show up in the Windows Device Manager at all. I may have just not seen it, but devices without drivers are easy to find and I also looked everywhere it should have been. These adapters are also made very inexpensively for their ten dollar price tag, even with two of included. These USB devices may work for some other specialty purpose, but they are not intended to provide 5vdc power.

Product does not include drivers therefore will not work with Windows. Returning them.

I asked a friend to buy two of these for me.I tried using these to connect my lithium batteries to my windows pc and also a raspberry Pi, did not work.Also tried using these to connect an inverter the raspberry Pi still did not work.These are certainly nor compatible with anything I tried them on.
