Exceptional quality for the price, typical Yamaha consistency
I already owned 5 different Yamaha classical guitars including a SLG200NW and a NCX700C. the CG192 is supposed to be their top of the line in the CG series. This is a very well-made guitar. The fit and finish is easily comparable to traditional classicals of other brands in the $1,000 price range. Sound is incredible, very well balanced and intonation was nearly perfect. Overall very high quality especially for the price. Many people mention the high action of the strings, classicals are supposed to have higher action than steel string acoustics. Typically the low E string should be < 4mm from the top of the 12th fret to the bottom of the string, mine was 3.5mm. Set up almost perfectly out of the box. It comes with Yamaha S10 strings which are ok but I prefer D'addario's, so I did switch them out. Overall I am very satisfied with this purchase and the quality of the instrument.

I love it!
I used to play (or try to) classical guitar about 15 years ago. My guitar then, which I gave to my niece, was an Alhambra. I decided to pick back up playing and splurged on this. I cannot say that I regret it. It's one of my happier purchases in a long while. I read a few reviews from Guitar World and other places prior to getting this, so I knew what I was purchasing. Some reviews say this doesn't have very loud bass, but I think the bass is just fine. If you feel it doesn't have enough bass, purchase higher tension bass strings and lighter treble strings to balance out things. While I'm basically a beginner again, I can say that this guitar has a pure sound and a long sustain. Read outside reviews on this guitar. Then, buy one. You won't regret it. It makes me happy to play it.

I expected better from Yamaha
I've had Yamaha classicals before , the lower end ones like the C-40 model and the playability was much better on them. This guitar came with a very high and very tight action. so high and so tight that I had to tune it down a whole step to be able to play it comfortably. The problem is the saddle was already shaved down so low that there's no way to adjust it any lower without the strings actually resting on the wood of the bridge, it's that low. There is also no truss rod in this instrument. The sound is nice, clear and full and its a beautiful guitar but Yamaha really blew it on this one. I don't know if this is just a design defect with this particular instrument or if this is the normal with this particular model, but not being able to adjust the height of the strings at all is a deal breaker. I have a Vangoa Cedar top that I also bought on Amazon for around $160 and although I've never heard of Vangoa until buying this one, it plays much better than the Yamaha and the sound is very decent for an inexpensive instrument. Actually I like to better then the C-40 I used to have. Kind of disappointed it's such a pretty guitar and I know it could have a good sound if I could just lower the action and tension but it's not possible with this one. I will be returning it.

Nice Guitar
The CG192C is the newest replacement for the top of the line CG guitars. I have owned several Yamaha guitars including a CG180 and a CG171. This is by far the nicest of any CG guitars I have played. Yamaha has improved the neck and made the top lighter. These changes equate to improved playability and sound. Of course the guitar is beautiful and well made; something we have come to expect from Yamaha. The cedar top is very nice and looks like a high quality piece of wood. The back and sides are laminated rosewood and look very nice. I prefer the sides and back be quality laminate as they are less likely to crack and I don't think inexpensive solid woods are any better. Also new is the three piece laminated neck. With the thinner neck that should guard against warping. Overall I really like this guitar. The improvement in sound is very noticeable. This would be a nice beginner guitar. I think Yamaha made some great improvements to an already quality poduct. I would also like to point out that I bought this guitar as a "beater" instrument. I also have a Kohno and a GC-71 but the 192 gets alot of use!

Great guitar for the price
Nothing beats Yamaha under $1000, value for money. Typical of beginner guitars action is on higher end. I replaced with bone nut/saddle and lowered the action while I was at it. DIY, took a while to sand down a new nut, just use thick glass to keep it flat and square. Yamaha s10 strings, D string finally broke after over a full semester of playing. Now have D'addario strings. First time learning a musical instrument so it was all completely new to me from reading music to playing. I would say this is a very high end beginner guitar or lower end intermediate guitar but it feels and plays great with lower action. Neck is nice and striaght, quality is top notch in fit and finish, seems like a much more costly guitar. Sounds really good too, rings/sustains like a bell.
