I am amazed how quickly this filter cleaned up a 300 gal stock tank garden pond!
Last year I set up a 300 gallon stock tank garden pond with 5 goldfish. I am new to water gardening but I did a lot of reading prior to set up. I have several plants including water lilies, iris, pickerel rush and hornwort for oxygenators. Original set up was late last summer and my water quality was good all last season. I use a 300 GPH pump and circulate through an old hand pump head and then cascade over some rocks to reenter the pond. My fish wintered over fine and most plants survived the winter as well. Mid spring there was an algae bloom in the pond and several articles I read said to just let the pond push through it and in a couple of weeks it should clean up. I added some floating plants to help reduce nitrates and the water just kept getting greener. I decided to explore filtration and came upon the Total Pond complete pond filter. I was a little apprehensive with the complaints about leaks and UV light not working. The UV light will not turn on if it is not installed in the turbe which I am sure is a safety feature. No leaks so far and at the beginning of day three my pond water has only a very slight green tint and the pond looks amazing! Installing the hose barb fittings is a little tricky to get them tight enough to seal but a couple of common tools and I was successful. Remember parts are plastic so over tightening could cause damage. I am expecting that by day four or five my pond water will be crystal clear. Also know that a UV light will not eliminate the algae that grows on pond structures. UV is a contact kill for the one cell algae that is in the water. There is no residual effect on algae after it leaves the filter. I am very pleased with the results the product provided in my pond.

Been using this for about a year. It works great.
Update Developed a leak around the top where the lid screws on. It was close to the seam down the tank. Others have had similar issues. I clean the tank then put a flashlight inside and pointed the beam around the lid so I couls see the little holesl.. Then I used my secret weapon for leaks and repairs. JB WELD. It is amazing stuff. Even patched a leak on copper once that has yet to fail. So spread a nice bead along the rim before the threads and verified no light shining through. Then I put some on the inside in the same area to add more reinforcement. Let it dry a few days. Hooked it back up.. No more leak. I will let you know if it does not hold, but I am sure it will. JB WELD rules.! Been using this for about a year. It works great. Mine is outside of the pond for ease of cleaning. I have something hiding it. On the intake and output I used Teflon tape on the threads then screwed the inside connector so no drip . I was generous with the tape especially up where it meets the pump filter housing. I recommend this filter. Be careful feeding the tube through the two inside filters. A few times I scrap a little skin on the inside lip of the pump. The inside lip at the top is scrap. I might try smoothing it with sand paper.

Works great - hard to set up and keep clean
I needed a filter that would clean my 380 Gallon tank better than the two 5 stage filters I had been using - simply not enough volume. This filter is set up to filter about 1200 gallons per hour and after a year it is doing a great job. I do have issues with the filter in general. First is was difficult to assemble. The pieces had to be cut and they are intended to be simply "pushed" on to the hoses without clamps, simple friction holds things together. not a bad strategy until it comes time to clean the filter elements. For cleaning you are intended to pull the hoses off of the fittings - works about once and then the hoses begin to tear as you try to remove them. I finally found pieces I could use as "quick disconnects" at my local plumbing supply and can now remove the filter without tearing thing up. (see photo) Second, it was not practicle to try and remove the filter elements by disconnecting the internal tubing without tearing the hose or loosening the internal fittings. I finally simply cut the filter elements so I could remove them without taking the internal hoses apart. This seems to be working great. I can now clean the filter in about 20 minutes - start to finish - and I no longer damage the hoses. I strongly suggest the TotalPond folks offer some sort of "Kit" to create a filter that is easy to install and clean.

Great for Turtle Ponds!!!
Awesome Pond filter, it works really well, it keeps my turtle pond clean and all of the turtles are happy and healthy. A little tricky to clean due to smaller opening, but overall does exactly what I purchased it for. Very cost effective!

Very insecure tube inlet and outlet
This started a very bad leak in the tubing outlet after one year due to the insecure attachment at tubing outlet and I almost lost all my fish. It is also very hard to clean the sponge filters unless you cut the filters; otherwise you have to remove the tubing just to clean it. I could never tell if the UV light was working either because the lense to see it is very bad quality. It was my first pump when I bought it so I did not know any better. After this broke, I bought the VivoHome pump to go with this and it has much better tubing attachments so I also bought the VivoHome filter and it is hands down way better and it costs the same. VivoHome filter has secure tubing attachments, you can easily tell that the UV filter works and it is much easier to clean the filters.

Outstanding Product!
We absolutely love the results of adding this to our koi pond. Water was crystal clear in a matter od a few days and has stayed that way. Could not more highly recommend. For reference our koi pond is 20 X 20 and about 9,000 gallons. There are generic filters for it and well that work great too and are much less.

This filter cleared up my water garden as never before. Until this, I was using a smaller filter that contained a pump as well and I had to change the filter every day and the water was still very murky. I bought this in combination with a separate pump, the Hydrofarm AAPW100-GPH and it works like a charm. Water is now crystal clear
